Since the 242 LS doesn't have a way to display your favorite flag, I added one and then another to my boat. Cost was about $50-$55/flag mount (inset mount with flag pole- flag not included). Just remember to use tape when drilling gel coat and always look behind where you plan to drill. I chose inset flag mount so nothing would be sticking up to hurt anyone. I used ss bolt with ss lock washer and ss nut w/nylon to help keep it secure. The one I bought is a 3/4. A friend has a Sea Ray and the flag pole is magnetic to help hold the flag in. I incorporated this by gluing a magnet in the base of the flag holder and another to the bottom of the flag pole.

Nice Job!

Nice work.

Where did you get the mount? Do you think it is strong enough to mount a grill?

Great job.
But I can not bring myself to drill into her like that. Nope - can't do it.

You know what's funny about your phobia? I was the exact same until I thought about it!!! Answer this question: would you be ok if the dealer told you they would install it for free if you buy the parts?

If you answered Yes, think about this--- the dealer would get Junior to drill the hole between washing boats. He makes min wage and doesn't give a crap about your boat (stand on your seats with his dirty shoes) and nick your boat somewhere else and tell you that was already there.

I'm telling you its super simple and you will be so proud of how awesome it looks and how cheap you did it for.

I couldn't find a good spot in back that was flat and out of the way of other things....so here is where I ended up putting it.

These all look very nice. I, personally, wanted a larger flag. I wanted to be able to use a standard 3' x 5' flag. I don't have a tower, so I had to come up with something different. My mount is extremely difficult to duplicate - just two zip ties attached to the bimini.;) I like the large flag so that it is easy for others to spot you.

Nice Flag!

I don't have a clue why they're sideways. They look fine on my laptop. I've flipped and flopped and I can't get them to sit right!
Sorry guys! Just tilt your head to the right.

It will hold up to a 1" pole. I'm using 2 3/4" stainless poles. I took up the slack with the rubber diameter rings that is included with the mounts - several different size diameter rings are included with each mount to wrap around your tower.

They've been tested at 65mph (short highway run) and they don't budge.

These mounts have to be drilled and tapped for a tightening knob.

Where's a good place to get that pole?

I've only seen the 1" pole in wood, and usually the 3/4" is in SS.
I've seen them pretty much everywhere - West Marine, Overtons, local marinas, Cabellas.

Even though I'm using the 3/4" with no problems - I'll probably pick up the 1" ers as well.
