I always use marine stabil along with Yamaha ring free in every gallon of gas. Unfortunately we don’t have ethanol free readily available but I’d use it and skip the stabil until the end of the season if I could.

and of course klotz ski craft oil.

yup mine was a little cleaner than that but it looks familiar :winkingthumbsup"

you got a project on your hands.... can you say TR-1 from used rental skis?

I see on Amazon that some of the fuel filter/separators have a small plastic canister at the bottom with a petcock (to drain the water?). Are they better than without?

What is TR-1?

I believe those are for outboards and aren’t rated to be in an enclosed engine compartment.

Judging from the pics I’d say it’s been a while since the carbs were rebuilt.

Someone has added shut off valves to the water intakes (for towing maybe flushing while in the water) Make sure those are open whenever the engine is running.

I’d say go for the gallon jug of simple green.

@kuwona it looks like this one is running the oil injection system…but it still has zip ties holding the oil lines in place.

These are a known failure point and should be replaced with oetiker clamps or safety wire. The zip ties get brittle and break and then the oil line can fall off.

There are a bunch of connections from the tank>pump>check valves>carb rack that need to be checked. If the lines aren’t in good shape replace them too.

84rzv500r, Okay - I get it. I guess a former rental would at least have the positive that the skis need to work to generate income?

the MfM, I had a feeling those zip ties were the notorious ones. Any particular way to check the lines or just look for cracks? Do you know what size (or amazon part) I need for the clamps?

- Where are the drain plugs? I suspect that's important to know before putting the boat in the water! I only know about the one at the aft transom.
- Looking at the fuel filter, it has 4 ports. Do I need 1 or 2 filters for two engines?
- Cleanout plugs: I plan to try to get them out using the "jack method" I see on youtube. Is a generic gasket replacement okay (Amazon.com: YIHETOP Manhole Cover Clean Out Pump Repair Kit F0R-67609-09-00 for 2000-2016 Yamaha Jet Boat LX210 LS2000 LX2000 SX190 AR190 : Automotive)?
- Generic Bimini Top okay? Does a particular size work best?
- With 3 carbs per side, how will I know which one(s) I've done poorly on when I try to start the engine?

Upholstery:
- Any tricks for getting behind the seat back area to attach the bow seats?
- Or to remove the seat bottoms or armrests?
- You can see in picture: PXL_20220302_214948368.jpg (AKA: "Lizard's Bad Day"), that a screw is falling out of the engine cover. It seems a bunch of these are missing from that cover. Anything special to know. I'm guessing I should remove them all and see if there are missing T-nuts or the equivalent?
I don't know the basics of upholstery.

Anyone know what this is?PXL_20220313_224255804.MP~2.jpg

if there is a protrusion through the hull with a paddle wheel its likely a speed sending unit... I actually filled that hole in my hull with structural epoxy and went to a GPS Speedo unit and then plated that area of the hull with aluminum...

Thanks team. I think Julian got it right. Looks like a "P-79" transducer. I guess it's another thing to try to figure out. Not sure it's connected to anything.

Anyone know where I can get replacement hose barb fittings like this one I smashed when removing old oil lines?PXL_20220320_143140075.MP.jpg

@Julian, I am filling out my registration paperwork for NC. There is a section where it asks about engines and engine prices individually. Do I need to fill that in or is that for boats outboards?

Anyone know what needle and seat size is "normal" for a 2001 ls2000. I have my first carb apart and the seat is stamped "2.0." I had hoped not to have to replace needles and seats but the needle tip is visibly worn. Googling around, it seems that 2.0 is not the size typically listed for 2001.
