Yesterday I flushed, fogged and changed oil on starboard engine. Today I went back to do port engine and it does not start.

Yesterday after fogging I took lanyard out and cranked the starboard engine and put lanyard back.

I used the boat about a week ago, flushed both engines without any problems.

It is $150/hour for dealer to check what is wrong. Plus the Yamaha service shop is about an hour away and I have leave the boat for a day or two. I would like to avoid that if I can figure it out on my own (I can not) or with your help.

Thanks

Does it crank and not start? If so, I'd be fiddling with the kill switch and trying it repeatedly. I'm guessing it is no coincidence that this started after you pulled the kill switch....

Is there a cup holder nearby that you can use to reach the back of the switch and ensure the connections are good? If not, pull out the binnacle (throttle) and access it from there. You can also try switching the wires from left side to right side to see if that helps.

As Julian said if the engine is turning over but not starting the issue is likely with the lanyard's kill switch. If it does not crank then the issue is likely throttle position or the kill switches under the clean out port hatch.

Starboard engine starts.
I just observed that after I try to start the port engine and then switch the key to off position, engine gives "puff" sound.

Have you checked to see if anything is stuck in the pump?

You may have an issue with your throttle position sensor, try moving the throttle back and forth a few times than put it back in neutral and try to start it

When you say it doesn't start are you saying it cranks but will not turn over or are you saying there is literally no cranking at all?

He wrote, "I just observed that after I try to start the port engine and then switch the key to off position, engine gives "puff" sound."

Which has me confused but thinking the pump may be seized.

the detonation could indicate a leaking fuel injector I would start with the basics, spark, fuel and compression.

I removed spark plugs. They were wet. I dried them and put it back. The engine started for about 2 seconds.

It cranks but will not start.
Try holding up on the lanyard switch while trying to start the port engine. The plastic lanyard clip may be warn enough that the port side contacts are not making which would inhibit the ignition.

This is the video of my engine cranks.... but not starting.

Sounds like the start circuit is good but the run circuit in the ignition is not. Try this. Turn the key to crank the engine, when it starts to catch Don't release the key. Keep it in the start position. See if the engine starts. I had this problem last season, it was a wet connector.

do you rinse off the exterior of your engine after you use it if so don't I spray everything with white lithium grease and coat the engine with a film, I stopped washing down the engines when I started having weird electrical issues . so now you need to spray all your electrical connections with a silicon spray if you did wash the engine down with water.

Update.
The engine started on 3 day after the rain. Wet ignition conection? what do you think?

I can winterize port engine now. Wow.... I am very happy!

Thank you for the info and advices.

I'm glad to hear it's working, I'm not mechanic but with going thru some sort of diagnosis process I would guess it had something to do with you lanyard,

I had a very similar issue. I found water in one of the electrical connectors. There are a cluster of connectors in the aft starboard locker behind a round white cover. I would remove the cover and open each connector, one at a time, to check for water or moisture. you can then spray them with a silicone based spray to prevent future moisture. This problem will only come back to haunt you if you don't.
