I hope this helps someone else, if you are having trouble surfing without rope, the board can make all the difference. You can pick up a new surfboard for around $350 or more or find one on Craigslist for a lot less. Get an ocean “fun” board, 5ft to 6 or 7 foot. It has the floatation for bigger, or fatter guys like me. Haha. I’ve been using boards like this for along time and they work awesome behind small boats with small wakes. This is all behind 2016 fsh 190. I would think it would work great behind the bigger 21 to 25 jets. Good luck. I’m 225lbs, my son in video is around 150lbs

this is no ballast

this is one fat sac

Love it (aside from the price of course).

do you have a link or brand name ?

I just googled "ocean fun surf board" and didn't get any good links,

.

I think that’s the board, we picked it up at one of the stores at Panama Beach, it was on sell, my son was using it for ocean surfing. Here is a pic of it

Also note how far forward he is on that big board! Weight distribution is key....he's almost got the tip of that board in the water!
I have to get fairly far up on it to go, it’s a lot like surfing long board in ocean, or Sup in ocean wave

Here is video of my son no ballast in boat

You can get a Hyper Lite Landlock for just over 300.00, it's 5'9" and made for people up to 300 lbs. It's noob friendly and it's what we used to learn how to surf on.

I was thinking along the same lines in terms of using a bigger board for more floatation. Wondered how a small SUP would work for my 275lb self. I saw a video of 2 grown men wake surfing on a SUP together.
