Ok, this may sound like a silly question, but this is frustrating the heck outta me! Other non-marine drawer glides have clips etc that you can push or move to allow the drawer rails to release the drawer. I can't find any way to remove the kitchen island drawer on my Islandia. Could it be that I'm a knucklehead? ok, don't answer that! But if you know how to do this, I'd appreciate hearing the 'super secret' method ...

Thanks, Dax

Pics of the guides and drawer bottom would help. Maybe you just lift the front up while pulling out?

I have a 2006 Islandia that is wrapped right now, but I plan to open it in the next week or two. When I do I will see if I can determine how to remove the drawer. BTW - I'm not sure if you had this problem, but I had an issue with that drawer popping open during rough water and I drilled 2 holes through the drawer and frame and put clevis pins with key rings in the holes - the drawer does not open while cruising but it does open easily otherwise. I'll post a pic when the boat is unwrapped. Another minor mod I did was I drilled 4 small holes in the rim that goes around the floor ski holder - this allows water to drain eventually to the bilge, but before I did this water would collect there and get musty / stinky since carpet is over it - problem solved now that any water can drain out - not sure why Seadoo did not do this at factory. Finally - I just ordered the Cobra Jet fins for the jet nozzles. I'll be installing them once I get them and I hope I have as much low speed steering improvement as you did - although mine is the twin 4-Tec engines. Bob (new member to this forum)

Yes, @Bob M , basically the whole reason for removing the drawer is to fix the loose metal top latch catch on the inside of the frame. Your clevis pin idea is great!!! I'd love to know more info on the installation and what I need to do. Right now my (very ugly) solution is a sticky back velcro hook piece on top and on each side of the drawer with a 6 inch piece of the soft loop velcro to secure the drawer from CONSTANTLY coming open. It happens even in moderate chop and very annoying and even dangerous at times. I'm not exactly sure how you did it so a brief how-to would be awesome!

Also a how-to description of water drainage. On mine I don't have the ski rack but I'm assuming you are talking about the top of the engine hatch cover in the area where the seat backs fold down? For me, the water collects in the 3 "trays" where the aluminum pieces lay to make the "sundeck"? Zero drainage is the worst design ever.

You're gonna love the Cobra Jet Steering at low speeds! It has made such a difference that now and then I even let friends borrow the boat for day cruising out to the gulf for fishing. Amazing! Any questions just ask @Cobra Jet Steering LLC ... Jeff is da man! I'd love to have your dual jet setup as it would be nice to have more than 45mph top speed.

Thanks for the post! Pix would definitely help, even if just showing locations of your work.

Hi Dax,

Well I'm in NJ and I got Spring Fever when the temperature was higher than normal a couple weeks ago, but I still have not unwrapped my boat yet this season. As soon as I do start the Spring preparation I will send pictures of the drawer solution with the clevis pins and also for the drainage holes I added and anything else I recall once I open it.

Hi Dax,

I opened my boat and I have some pictures of the drawer with the clevis pins. They are in my pictures section of the media area. Let me know that you can see the pictures (or not).

As for taking the drawer out - I think the only thing that can be done is to unscrew the side glides from the drawer. I tried again to remove the drawer but I know I have tried in the past and I was not able to determine a way to do it. I have pictures of the clevis pins and the holes in the frame - I also have pictures of the floor ski storage and the 4 small holes I drilled into the rim to allow water to drain to avoid the smell & mess I had before.

I also drilled holes in the storage drawer and cooler drawer to let water out when I rinse these down.

As for drainage under the sun deck seat backs - I have not determined what to do there yet. I thought about drilling some small holes for drainage, but since it is over the engines and also over the air tubing openings I have not yet figured out the best way to do it. I could drill small holes and get some small gauge tubing to route water where I want, but this seems to be over-engineering for a situation that I solve by taking a towel and soaking up any water that collects there.
I'm not sure why Seadoo did not put drainage in any areas that can collect water - heck there are little holes in the cup holders for this purpose.

One other thing is that I installed the Cobra fins on the jet nozzles. I plan to launch this weekend for the season so I'll get a chance to see the difference they (hopefully) make with steering.

If you have any questions on the pictures or anything else in general let me know.

My challenge right now is figuring out a way to re-connect the chain inside the gas filler to the gas cap so it does not fall in the water - apparently the last time I re-fueled the chain split apart. It's best to do this now before it is in the water.

HELP!
Does anyone out there know how to take the drawer slides off from a Sea doo Islandia galley? seems you have to take a galley insert out to get at the nuts holding the slides against the side of the galley plastic? Hate to try to pry the it apart if all it takes is something else. One of the drawer slides broke and I need to replace it.

Next time I get on my boat I will look at this one more time, but I don't believe the drawer is designed to be (easily) taken out.

Hi I see where this question has been asked numerous times. I need to replace the Draw Glides in a 2001 Seadoo Islandia., but I can't figure out how to get the old broken ones off. The link to the pictures is not working. Can someone post the procedure?

Also - Anyone know where to get a decent price on the Glides? All of the websites are about $500 for the set....

Lastly the parts list shows a 2 different draw glides - Long and Short. I found someone selling just the long online, just curious if it will work.

Thanks in advance
Scott

Well it's hard to believe another season has gone by and the boat is already wrapped for the winter. Regarding the drawer glides - I believe these are pop riveted to the sides, but what I do see is that it appears that there are numerous screws around the entire upper and lower drawer enclosure and I think that this entire drawer mechanism can be removed once these screws are (there may be some in the back of the enclosure too). See my picture titled Storage drawer - clevis pin holes and these are the screws that I am talking about - they go all around the drawer enclosure. As for where to get the glides - I would just search the internet for different sites. Here is one I've used for parts - seadoopartshouse.com. you should call them because I think the expensive items in the galley section are the actual drawers and not the glides. Good luck!

On another topic, I installed the Cobra Jet steering fins back in the Spring and they make a noticeable difference in slow speed maneuverability. I checked them when I took the boat out of the water for the winter and they are still securely fastened. I highly recommend these for improving boat docking. Bob M

@Bob M take photos if you figure out how to get the drawer out

Well the thing is ... I don't need to take my drawer out - it is working fine - both upper and lower drawer. I'm just trying to help figure out how they may be able to come out.
