My final project before selling the 242. My drives looked terribad, all from lake use. Bugged the hell out of me. So...finally decided to do something about it. Pics tell the whole story-

So did you pay someone to do this or do you have this capability at work? SWEET!!! I've wondered how to get mine looking like that again!

Amazing!

Wow! Looks better than new! And I see you said the corrosion was from lake use, but is that from leaving it in the water for extended periods? Or did you always trailer it? Just curious.

That looks so good. Mine look bad too! I always scrapping and cleaning them.

I know mine was from leaving it in the lake water at the marina. When we bought our lake house I had a lift put in the dock and now she doesn't get worse. The hull also stays clean!

I actually gave away my blast cabinet 2 weeks ago, more headache than it's worth. So, I tore em apart and took em to the local media blaster. Best $100 I ever spent.

Yeah, the guy I bought it from would leave it in the water all summer. Being 4 years old and only had 16 hours, it just sat and sat and sat there. I tried various chemicals and such this summer, and a wire brush just seemed too tedious. Super happy with how they came out.

Those look great and I can't believe how bad they were before you cleaned them up.

@veedubtek So $100 to blast....did you paint them or is that their clean blasted "finish"? I might have to get the name of the place....or look around here in Raleigh....

@Julian . They did the blasting and the painting actually. They also powdercoated my speaker cans for my jet ski. Total for everything was $150, but the owner is an acquaintance of mine. Place in Kernersville called Exotics.

I'm the guy that bought the boat! Well done veedubtek!! And thanks again!

@veedubtek
Could you give more specific information about what they used on your pumps for paint?

I just found a shop locally that can blast and powdercoat or paint my pumps but I want to make sure they use the right stuff.

Also, how come you used a darker color in the middle?

Thanks

I think it was just regular old Krylon to be honest, it wasn't anything special. I liked the contrast with different shades.

I still have pump envy!!! I'd love to get mine back to that shape although mine are as bad as your it still bothers me they look 11 years old....LOL

@veedubtek did you have to completely disassemble the whole pump or did you leave the impeller and shaft attached?

In case anyone wants to compare, I am half through glass bead blasting my pump parts. Here is what the clean aluminum looks like. They seem so nice I think I may have them black anodized.
