A few weeks ago a bag of "foam" came in the mail....dafaq is dis ?? I bought the ebay Magic eraser on a whim reading this thread and never looked back....

used it today on some pretty sturdy surface scratches that "scratch out" and elbow grease did not even impact....AWESOME... (these scratches are Bimini concrete piers via a stiff current)

some deeper ones well into the gelcoat I was able to blend into in a fair manner...but not well enough

It started to on the deep ones so i stopped trying there. Waxing it now and there is some nominal dull spots but preferred over the white scars.

Is the only way to get rid of the dull spots with a buffer and some sort of "buffing compound"? Curious as I have a couple of spots like that..... @Glassman ?
They should be fairly fine scratches creating a haze. Polish by hand should do the trick, unless you want to break out the buffer and do the whole boat.....I find that if I start off doing it by hand I can match the rest of the hull better and blend it. That way I'm not stuck doing a large area just to blend in a spot.
If they are bad, wet sand lightly with 1500-2000 first, use plenty of water. Then polish and wax.

Polish by hand with? @Glassman Don't tell me....Gel coat polish?
If it's bad you can hit it w 3M marine rubbing compound, otherwise I use what's handy...~ Finesse-It, Meguiar's, Flitz, I'm not picky. I've used toothpaste quite often too (paste type)

What your telling me @Glassman is that it matters not what you rub with, but you must rub...:depressed::yuck:

There was a write up about this in the other forum.

Those white pads are nice but when you use them they take off the protectant that keeps the vinyl from staining and weathering.

It was determined that you must re apply a protectant after using the white pad on the vinyl. Just FYI...

Sounds like you must buff out the gelcoat after you use them on it too, to restore the luster and to reseal the pores in it.
