MILWAUKEE - via water.

WHOA @RiverRat That is like downtown Milwaukee. Can a guy with IL plates drive in that town? I don't have any Bears or Cubs bumper stickers.

I have a Bears hitch cover, but it won't be installed , since ill be dragging the trailer. I always make sure to wear my bears hat when in cheese land!!

Just let me know whatever date we decide on. Don’t change your original date for me, I will try and attend the later. Someone is always going to have a conflict so just pick a date and go with it.

Tagging myself in case the dates work :)

Does anyone know if you can boat up to Summerfest, drop anchor and enjoy some free concerts?

I've been down there during Summerfest before. You can get pretty close but there are definitely some restricted areas that are usually accessible by boat. You can actually pull up in any of the unreserved slips at Lake Front State Park, across the lagoon from the Summerfest grounds. I was told that they charge for them, but nobody works there on the weekend. So I'll go ahead and pull in one that doesn't have someone's name on it and sit on the swim deck and listen to some music. 1528836807906.jpeg
I never tried to anchor outside the south end of the grounds where the bigger name acts perform. Would be cool if you could, but I don't know if that's cool or not.

I would say we could be interested in a Milwaukee weekend.. Only 1.5 hours away for us...

IMG_3931.JPG Are we thinking about doing a two day/whole weekend thing? In my experience, one day is plenty of time to experience the Milwaukee river system/Big lake. So, we could do that on a Saturday, then maybe on Sunday do a Shelbyville style raft up on one of our slightly more inland lakes. (20 minutes west of Milwaukee.) It is definitely a dream of mine to get a big group of JBN'ers together on one of my home waters. Let's shoot for the weekend of August 25th-26th since I'm not on call for work that week.(I'm on call every third week for a week at a time:() if the weekend before that works better for the bulk of the group, I'm sure I can get one of my guys to cover for me.(I'm already doing that for Shelbyville!)

@sstegh and @GTBRMC we'll make sure to get you out with us if you're available.

I am quite sure no anchoring is allowed to the south of the grounds (toward bottom of picture) as that is the channel into the rivers. I believe I have seen boats anchored to the east (right) of the main amphitheater (with Summerfest smiley logo) during Summerfest, but i am not 100% sure. Sound would likely be ok from that amphitheater, but the hill would block any view into the stage area.

Yes, I should have been more specific. I know for sure no mooring in the river mouth south of the amphitheater, but maybe due east of there would be ok.

I was thinking 2 maybe 3 days, lol.

I don't want to overcommit. Would love a sat/sun.

I am trying to make the weekend of the 25th work. Drive up on Friday return home Sunday afternoon.

I made the 74 mile jaunt from Portage IN to Racine WI for my very first run in preparation for Bimini in 2016. It was enjoyable and relaxing, but a little chilly in April! I would be interested in hanging out up there again!

The 18th and 19th work best for me and my wife. The 25th and 26th are good for only me so if that is the weekend I will be able to host a few riders that need a lift.

If it ends up being the 25th I’d be game for riding as I now have a bachelor party the 25th in Milwaukee.

Definitely interested. Been on this group for a few years and never been able to make any of the group outings. Lake Michigan is a bucket list item for me on my own boat. Went this past Sunday due to my lake being no wake. Forecast for waves was wrong and we were treated with 3-4 ft rollers leaving Winthrop harbor. Turned around and packed it in. So I’m a definite maybe. Might be me and wife or me a buddy or some combo. Just need 1 foot waves on the lake for running out there for a bit.

So out of curiosity .... how many of you have radios? I was thinking about getting a cheap hand held and it made me think about this gathering.
