MILWAUKEE - via water.

My boat is still in storage with a hanging left-side brake - a problem that cropped up during our last trip of the season last year. :(:(:(

Been busy with the Eldest's Graduation, party, and subsequent clean-up. This weekend I'm up at Mom's with the boys getting the cottage opened up.

Gotta squeeze some house-projects in somewhere... Sigh.

Might have her wet by July if I'm lucky. Looking at such a short season this year that I'm debating just letting her sit. (I don't think I can ACTUALLY do that but the fact that I'm even kicking it around is sad.)

@RiverRat Lets narrow down some dates so we can make plans. What are you thinking right now?

@SCP1 the weekend before? Also in regards to Lake Wisconsin, I absolutely need to get out there this year, I will let you know when my summer actually starts!

Just plan it and we'll do our best to come! Sounds like August is completely open so far.
Probably leave the kids at grandmas for this one!

Where you proposing to launch from?

Looks like a bit over 100 miles via water if I launch in Hammond by my house. I guess that's out, lol!
Only like 25 hour drive towing it looks like depending on where we go!

August 18 & 19 sounds great!

Tagging brand new Madison, WI AR195 owner @DogDad in this thread in case he might be interested. Welcome Jeff, from another Jeff in WI, who coincidentally grew up in Madison and misses living in a city nestled into a cluster of big beautiful lakes.

Thanks for the add! Great to have some local representation. I'd love to hear about some of the best spots to boat from Madison to Milwaukee especially if you can stop for a meal along the way! My wife and I moved down here from Stevens Point fairly recently and this is our first boat so we welcome recommendations and get togethers! If any of you are in the Madtown area and want to help a guy out it would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to add me on FB: www.facebook.com/jeff.jeske.33

WHOA @RiverRat That is like downtown Milwaukee. Can a guy with IL plates drive in that town? I don't have any Bears or Cubs bumper stickers.

What about me? I might as well have dukes of hazard all over my truck with indiana platesa

@buckbuck @Speedling right now there is more than enough Illinois and Indiana plates around here with the cubs in town.

@DogDad Madison is an awesome area to boat in, I always want to get out there more often. Summer just goes by too fast, and I've got to get my Mississippi River time in each year. A cool lake kind of in between all of us would be Rock Lake in Lake Mills. It's not huge, but it's a great swimming lake with enough room for water sports. It also seems to be less of a hassle to get your boat on than most of the lakes by us here in "Lake Country." Although I've found that if you get to the launch by 10 you can usually beat the circus.

So there's a seemingly endless supply of restaurants and bars along the river system in Milwaukee but not all of them have a ton of dock space. One of my favorites that I think definitely would have enough dock space is the Twisted Fisherman on the Menomonee River, just east of the Harley Davidson Museum. There is a low railroad bridge that I usually have to drop my tower to get under, unless I have enough ballast... I mean big friends aboard. It is a swing bridge, but I don't feel like I need to bother the Bridge Tender for my little runabout. But a whole group of us would be worth it for sure. IMG_2279.JPG

I'm really interested in doing this also. Either weekend talked about (18th & 19th or 25th & 26th) should work for us.
