How does wind effect that area? Can you find calm areas no matter which way it's blowing from?
Depends what are you wanting to do? To do water sports you should almost be below the Ferry down towards the dam as the water is deeper and you can utilize the whole river. This area if windy can be tricky to find calm water. However if you go up river north of the lake you can get out of the wind and find calm water however the channel is narrow and only really goes to about the 39/90/94 Interstate bridge.

@SCP1 We don't have the kids on the boat all that often for watersports - we mostly hang out at the cove/sandbar.

Got it on my GoPros. Here's what I've posted so far to YouTube

If you haven't named your boat already, "Shark Bite" would be a great one. Its earned it!

FINALLY!
Got the boat out of storage this week.
Every year we talk about how this year we're going to get the boat in the water in early spring and every year something comes up. I haven't checked my records but pretty sure this year is the latest ever (only one that may come close was when I had some medical issues). This year it was a combination of weather and, more importantly, aged parents (my wife's are 102 and 97 and my mom is 93!) that involved a lot of road trips. Even this week, we're here at the beach for the whole week and with work and other stuff it was still Wednesday afternoon before I got it off the damned trailer and on the lift again.
It'll be a somewhat abbreviated season but we'll try to make the most of it.

Albemarle sound in Hertford NC last weekend. Perfect spot to teach my son boating.

Bellfourche Reservoir earlier this week… hot and humid when I put in at 0730. Boating day 4 2023.

Just after I got the boat on the trailer at 2030hrs… nice day on the water. I only caught one fish but that’s all I ask for on a given day. Would have been nice to put a limit of Wally’s in the boat but a great day on the water, and up at the north end the water was 80*.

Great day. I hope my kids will cherish all these memories
