Ah, first thought I had was a memory of my dad, when I was in grade school and middle school. "Lawn needs cutting but the lawnmower's out of gas. Go syphon some from the car." And of course we didn't own a pump, 'cause where's the fun in that when you can just suck on the end of the hose? My wife says that explains a lot about me these days...
