Good day to you all. Had a scare this morning. We had an awesome gale blow through last night here in the North with sustained 40 to 50mph winds. My wife drove past our boat at the marina this morning and called me to cry that our bimini was gone. I went there on the way t drop off our 6 year old at school and luckily, she clearly forgot to wear her glasses....all is well. But shame on me for not putting it away yesterday before the storm. That said....can anyone explain what the straps on the top are? I can't see them being used to tie it up because they go horizontal instead of vertical.....any clues would be awesome?55067100133__B799CE39-2275-4442-B03E-8B3680E69784.jpg

Storing oversized boards? I wish I had that.
I'm not positive, but that would be my best bet - based on what looks like reinforcement fabric material on top. Good deal!

That would be my guess too....for putting wake boards or surf boards up there and securing them.

Straps: Not sure if there is an official use for them. I use them to put my wake boards or surf boards on the top and they fit perfectly and super tight.
I would recommend you get some straps or bungee cords to go over the boot when you store the bimini. The boots is not very tight and allows the canvas to flap when you are trailering the boat in the road and that will damage the bimini, don't ask me how I know this...

OK....that makes sense...thank you very much everyone. P.S. Seriously, the Scarab bimini...at least the one pictures is hella strong to have survived last night. ....but I have forks too....how many freaking boards do you need on a boat?! lol

You'd put the big surf boats on top of the bimini....they wouldn't fit well in the side racks.

First of all, thank you for the advice. I'll definitely get some small bungees to do that....secondly........HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS? :D
