race v-8 jet boat

Those guys are nuts..serious power..love it

I'd cruse it !!!! I love when we see old school v8 jet boats on the river !!!!

I am glad they know where they are going cuz I sure didnt. Like an autox for boats.

gotta love when they fake out the camera guy. Shouldn't he know the course?

Also, I think they should finish with a sub move then power out of it

I don't get it...they have a wake tower, but no tow point?? o_O Where do they hook up the rope for boarding?

Or tower speakers!!! That is crap. ;)

LOL, that was sarcasm @Glassman

You know it is a bad A$$ when it has a rollcage.

I wonder how light those boats are...??

Pity Yamaha doesn't make an aluminum hull boat like these! I'd love to get into a North American Jet Boat racing series/club doing that!!!! The next NASCAR....NASJBR (ok they'd need to change the acronym! LOL)

To go along with all this awesomness, check this out. Start at about 50 sec in to avoid all the promo garbage. This is equally as nuts!!

NOT a tower....That's a roll bar!

and I would totally be one of the people missing a turn and parking on dry land. Although huge style points for the guy that made it over the hay bales!

I think that looks crazy fun. Nascar has the Richard Petty Driving Experience, those guys need something like that. I would sign up for a ride in one of those bad boys in a heartbeat!

I wonder how a small super fast boat like that would do on my lake? It get's really rough on weekends with all the houseboats, 40' cruisers, sailboats, etc. however, during the week I can only imagine how much fun that would be!

I just stumbled across this on the utube. THIS IS NUTS!! Not even wearing any helmets. Sure looks fun, but no thank you.

You could do this in a Yamaha.

That would be awesome to ride! Did anyone read the info about the boat on their website: http://www.shotoverjet.com/the-experience/ride-the-shotover-jet/

"Built here in Queenstown your Shotover Jet 'Big Red' Jet Boat is unique and has been designed specifically to handle the Shotover River Canyons. Made for maximum speed, strength and manoeuvrability your ‘Big Red’ is powered by two 350 Mercruiser V8 engines producing a combined 700 horsepower. Propulsion, steering and control is provided through two Hamilton 212 Jet Units thrusting 760 litres of water per second. This unique combination of design and configuration means your ‘Big Red’ can travel at speeds of up to 85kph in as little as 10cm of water and can do what no other Queenstown adventure activities jet boat is capable of spinning beyond 360°."

With that kind of power you would think it could do more than 52mph...
