Safety issue with Yamaha boats!

Please be advised that there is a serious safety issue with these Yamaha boats. If you are standing on the swim platform and your wife "accidentally" goes WOT you will be thrown into the lake. Don't ask me how I know. Also, if anyone happens to find my truck keys in Roosevelt Lake please let me know. Don't call my cell though, it's no longer functional.

I did this exact thing to my wife when I was trying to back into a dock. Thankfully the incident was more hazardous to MY health than hers. I feel your pain!

Didn't you read the super-secret manual? If you ever have to step on to the swim platform, open the clean-out hatch. You will then be safe from inadvertent acceleration. My daughters figured out how to dunk Dad very early on.

The Wife - after repeated reminders to NOT try to drag the boat to the dock by hand ("I'll use the engines to get us there. If it get's too crazy I'll just take another pass at it.") - learned a physics lesson the first year we had the boat. She dragged herself off of the swim-deck during docking maneuvers by holding on to a dock piling.

The kids (having recently watched Madagascar 2 for the umpteenth time) said that they looked for Mom and all they saw was a "Sad little head" bobbing in the water.

I feel that I made the proper decision to help her back aboard rather than grab the camera. But I was sooooo close to making the wrong one...

Lol. She was picking me up and the dock. I jumped off the dock on to the swim platform. It was really windy and she was worried about hitting the dock so she gave a quick braaaaaaaaap. The whole ordeal from jumping onto the boat to hitting the water took about 3 seconds.

The Boy and I do this to each other all the time! We both crack up when it happens.... He got the idea when someone dumped 2 of our swim coaches off the back as they were taking too much time to gear up for wake-boarding.... Can't remember who that was now....

Probably need to brief The Boy on timing and appropriateness of this move when The Girl comes out with us.........maybe.....

The best way to do this is just a little bit of throttle to juuusssttttt barely get the person(s) off balance, then watch them fight to keep themselves on-board before the realization hits them that they are going in and they jump in on their own instead of falling.........that's when the laughter starts! Next time I will be on a video mission!

Its also quite possible to shoot a stream of water over a low dock and soak some poor unsuspecting old man who was just minding his own business.
