Sand Bar Bash 2025

Th biggest party on the Winnebago chain is this Saturday on the north shore of Lake Winneconne. I will be there along with @drewkaree and @FSH 210 Sport. Weather looks really good as of today - should be a lot of fun. Anybody else gonna be attending? Haven't seen or heard from @Brad460 all season - where are you, man!!

@WiskyDan will most definitely be there first, and all staked out, ready for the weather and wind. We should also have my boat, @FSH 210 Sport and Torp's new boat, so we should have a big enough spread with 4 swim platforms, to form a proper Wisco buffet. I don't have a muddler, so someone else is going to have to bring the Old Fashioned's - mine is whiskey sour with mushrooms thankyouverymuch

@WiskyDan @FSH 210 Sport what do you guys have for fenders? I've got 3 Taylor Made Big B 8"ers and 2-3 Missions. If I'm correct, Torp will still have his 4" wholly inadequate fenders, but I did give him 2 tie-up sticks which should be perfect for Saturday.

Dan, I'll have your $$ - I haven't been able to track down my existing Genius10, and I really need to get one on the car battery I drained down.

That was a putt yesterday… 800 miles, four cups of coffee,15 hours with stops and numerous construction zones with lowered speed limits, and the circuitous route my nav took me on small country roads …

I have four what I would call standard fenders… they may be like Torps 4” inadequate ones..I have my main anchor and a stern anchor.

I expect to be there by 11:00 or shortly thereafter.

There were several Yammies around, this year didn't seem as well-attended as previous years to me, but it was a LOT cooler than the past.

Some issues near the end, had to get some folks to medical attention, hopefully I hear some good news when I wake up, and we can hit the water again.

Good to see @Brad460 and meet up with a few others, @FSH 210 Sport hit us where we were vulnerable - right in the food hole! @Waterbuda2 sorry we missed you! Always great to meet up with new folks, hopefully we can make it happen in the future.

A few more pics… we were on the east end of where the band barge was … to me, there’s a lot of Yamahas here.. I’ve never seen so many in one place. First time I’d rafted up before, the 4” fenders did fine in the conditions we had, a few small rollers came through but all good. I had a great time cooking burgers for people and that plan worked out well.

Here’s hoping we get some more positive news about the person who had to go to the hospital yesterday… we’d appreciate any good thoughts and energy for her.

Glad to be of service - that was a scary situation. Sounds like things have stabilized and she is out of the woods.

So the situation that happened with us was that, near the end of the festivities on Saturday, my cousin-in-law went to lean over on her boat to see one of my newest grandchildren. She slipped, fell, hit her face/neck/head/something, and started to fall, at which point she got hung up on a cleat near their rear ladder.

My son was close enough to be able to get to her and lift her up and back onto the deck of their boat. From info that's been relayed to me, she was soon checked out by my sister-in-law nurse, and signs pointed to her needing to get help ASAP.

They got underway, but I wasn't confident in the least that they were going to get there fast, safe, or accurately, and @WiskyDan was able and willing to take me to track and help guide them, and break water for them, as the CIL was laid out on the transom entrance, and would be bouncing, making it hard to move faster.

EMT's met us at the launch, got her squared away, and into the ambulance, and she was taken away, and eventually airlifted to the hospital for treatment.

Today, she's up and aware of her surroundings, but has no memory of Saturday, apparently, and is sore all over. I believe she's going to be discharged, if she hasn't already, but I won't find out for a little bit yet.

Thinking about the situation, the only thing I can recall that could be a contributing factor is some crappy spray-on suntan lotion, as I recall at least 2 people applying it on the transom area. Alcohol doesn't seem to be a factor, as she had 2 drinks for the entire time we were there, and I'm not a fan of anyone holding my grandkids if/when they're drunk, and would have said something if she was noticeable. There may be other things at play - ice or water on the deck of their boat, no padding or cleaning off the patterned slip resistant deck... Could be just the worst luck

She seems to be out of major trouble, and again, I'm extremely thankful for @WiskyDan and @FSH 210 Sport being there and willing & able to help out.
