So I am picking up the boat tomorrow....

I talked to Eric at Bayside and he said everything was running nice on it, put high octane in with some fuel treatment.

His only issue and he said to him it wasnt a big one was the blow out plugs were stuck.... He said he doesnt think its a big deal, what do you guys think...

Want some food for thought....

There are a few threads on removing by a rope and a lever out of wood or some can tap back down then pull out. Then just get the rebuild kit and fix the issue. See if they will provide the rebuild kit or minus some money upfront for you to do the work. I wouldn't be to concerned though. Just check everything else yourself! No surprises.

If you mean the clean out plugs, it's a pretty big deal. If you ever suck up seaweed or something you want to be able to take out the cleanout plugs and get your hand in there.

The cleanout plugs? That's not a huge deal. It happens when owners leave them in. The worst part is getting them out. Then a simple lower half rebuild should have them working like new. I think it's around $60 each for the repair kit.

It can be quite a struggle to get them out. Some guys have had luck with using ice in the tubes, while others have rigged floor jacks, rope, and 2x4's to get them out.

I'm in the minority here...... You need to have them fix those plugs before you buy it. The clean outs are a major part of what makes a Yamaha a Yamaha.... No other jet boat has them! The plugs can be fairly expensive to replace if they are too far gone.

Bottom line, get them fixed on their dime!!

I know you are excited and want to bring her home. I've been there. I've overlooked things just to complete a sale and have regretted every last thing I overlooked.

Those plugs can sometimes be a bear to get out. So the question is, do you want to fight with them, or make him fight with them. I have to assume that he's already tried the easy methods to get them out and been unsuccessful....so I prepare yourself...or have them do it!

This turns out to be a no brainer given that @OCMD goes along with the deal on the SX230. Car jacks, negotiating, pre-sale check.

Looking forward to hearing about the maiden voyage.

get the plugs out?
Nope....long story short Eric the owner said he wouldn't sell me the boat if I wanted him to pull them out....

I'll let @OCMD tell this one...LOL...

Good news is he took care of me..I have time for a 20 min power nap then heading to a Toby Keith concert
