Plowing this AM. Getting ready for a 12-18" dump this PM. Pretty cool ice build up over night. Hope to catch it with time lapse video later.

I'm jealous!! Had the snowmobile out once this winter to just tow the kids around, not really even enough to be on the trails so far around here.

We ended up with 15" of powder on top of a 1/4" of ice that fell Thursday night, that I posted above. It took a lot of plowing but it is pretty and bright. A few pictures of what I saw.

Just finished plowing around noon.

Need to dig out the grilles, we use all Winter.

These icyicles are not from heat loss...they are from the freezing rain/ice accumulation Thurs. night.

Sparkling trees out the window.

We have been grounded due to weather for a while now. Today, this is the high temp. They will be coming.

Ran in this for about a half hour, tested the boat out and was soaking wet. It was fun but that was enough I headed to the inland waterway for the trip back. Can do it at about 20 is good. Tried faster and once in a while would get a wave wrong and get really wet or pound hard. Slower was just plowing through.D898207D-019C-40B6-B400-B010C45CF2AC.jpeg

Saturday morning, opening day of sturgeon spearing season, or as my neighbor likes to call it, sturgeon drinking!

This isn't really even a good representation of the amount of people/vehicles that were out on the ice.

4 cars went through the ice yesterday, and without fail, they were all driving where they shouldn't have been and not paying attention. Drive now, text later is WAY more important when on the ice!

Blue skies and blue seas!

I know, simple things for cabin fevered, boat on the hard minds, but saw these "Snow Rollers" this Am. A couple of inches of sticky snow overnight and some wind formed these snowballs in the driveway I just plowed. Pretty cool natural event.

Most are bigger than my hand.

Snowball Fight anyone? There are thousands out in the pastures/fields. I don't see this often, not on a flat surface. Thought I'd share. It will all be boating water soon.

I've never seen that before. That's cool!

This could be my new view...
Yes, I know, not nearly as cool as @zipper's view of the Adirondacks, lol, but still - not too shabby.

(welcome to a nice part of NJ - and the land of 50k/year property taxes, lol)

Nice view, welcome to the north east neighborhood. You guys will be vacationing/boating on Lake Champlain before you know it. 6 hours away, we see alot of NJ tags (license plates) driving around. Ya and I understand property taxes, but not that! We bitch at paying $13,000 in property taxes on our 478ac. farm. $50k is...putting it nicely, a crazy tax. Come on up for a sail or bring yours, whatever you end up with and we will show you around. Who knows, what will happen...we could end up with a Jetboaters.net group meet-up on the Lake in the future. ;)

Will do!
Still a lot of moving parts, not loving it right now at all, lol. I don’t quite understand those tax calculation here either, some smaller municipalities (usually with good schools) it just borders on absurd... We hope to cap ours somewhere around 35k which is still crazy! but, with school age kids, you either pay that or... private school tuition! Lol (not happening)

The next six months will be painful.. however, after dust settles - I’m looking forward to post a whole series of “Swatskis wake surf at the Statue of Liberty” pics!!! Lol

To get to the stern of my boat I have to climb over my waverunners, I’ve done it hundreds of times. Today the spare tire mount on the waverunner trailer (I use the spare as a step to the trailers tool box and ultimately the swim deck of the boat) failed on me, looks like the mount rusted through. There was no indication it was going to fail just one too many uses as a step, glad it happened in the drive way and that I didn’t get hurt making the discovery. Just another thing for everyone else to take a look at before the next boating season.

Need to drill a hole in that to prevent water sitting in there?
