I believe this is a Sugar Sand.

Watching the video I bet the aggressive driver wanted to scare the boat pulling driver but misjudged the distance. I have had drivers who forgot they were pulling a trailer cut me off on several occasions.

I had a tractor/trailer driver cut me off on purpose. I was passing a guy and the rig driver came flying up on my ass and I could see he was pissed in my mirror. He moved over to the right of the guy I was passing. I passed then moved back to the center. The rig then passed me on the right then proceeded to cut into my lane with only about 3/4 of the trailer past me. Nothing happened but man, people are jerks.

8-9 years ago I was assaulted by a guy suffering from road rage. He was arrested and paid fines, medical bills and restitution for damage. I can tell you from being in this situation first hand, he was out of his mind when he assaulted me. When his mind cleared - immediately after hitting me, he realized his situation and took off at high speed (he was caught not far away). I am thankful he wasn't armed as I am certain he would have shot/stabbed me instead of simply punching me. There is very little one can do in these situations....you can't legislate anger...it happens and often with catastrophic results.

The best thing you can do now is to simply pull out your camera and start video recording....it will might defuse it faster, or at least record the events objectively. I've considered installing a dash cam as it would be amusing, if nothing else, to record some of the bone head things we see on the road!

The guy in the red truck should have yielded to the idiot in the white Dodge and not played chicken. When you see people flipping out uncontrollably over such petty things....... stay far away!!

I agree with you. No question it could have been avoided by the red truck. I'm not saying the road rage guy didn't cause it and is totally in the wrong, but I tell my son the same thing my dad told me when I talked about an accident being someone else's fault..."son, the cemetery is full of people that had the right of way"

I remember this @Julian. Glad we can reminisce on this today.

Yeah...no kidding. But I learned the lesson @scokill points out....it doesn't matter who is right or wrong....if the guy in the wrong kills the person in the right...he's still dead when the smoke clears! So just let the aholes go...smile and swear at them under your breath (or outloud if you don't have kids!LOL) and as the cow called Ben in the movie "Barnyard" said..."Be the better man".

The sucky part of my whole ordeal is...I was being the better man by letting people in....nutsoboy got mad at me for it....so sometimes you can never win!

"there's the boat".....

Additionally all that family/kid needed was the video. The assault and the license plate are all that you need. Immediately report it and contact your favorite blood sucker .... er I mean personal injury lawyer. With a good police report and a vicious lawyer you will take everything from that guy but his last name.

As soon as the red truck took to pursuit (especially when he too ran the red lights) he became part of the problem. Now can I blame him... NO. Have I done that as well... yes. (when I was younger and without kids). But I am also a sane enough person to hold back, take the evidence, and show yourself as what you are in that instance.. the victim.

I train, I own, and I carry but more importantly I know when to stop and not engage... ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS IN THE CAR!!
End story - Do NOT chase down crazy people!! Remember that if they are willing to hurt themselves then they sure don't give a SHI*T about you!!

Had very similar thoughts. Also, he apparently left his wrecked boat and trailer in the middle of the freeway as he chased the other guy down. Not sure what that is called in Colorado, but it certainly creates a public nuisance at least and likely rises above basic legal tests and into criminal negligence territory.

That, plus having your 13 year old post evidence to YouTube is, undoubtedly, not helpful to any ongoing legal and/or insurance case proceedings (assuming the slide show, commentary, act of posting online, etc were even the work of the original peeps involved - grain of salt time, it is the interwebs.)

I imagine some of our LEOs or legal professionals can weigh in.

I agree with both of you, but from the still shot his boat was going to be in the middle of the freeway regardless of his pursuit, it's not like he could have lifted it on to the trailer had he not pursued.

True @Ancient canoe but he did leave the scene of an accident and that technically is his boat on the roadway. Pretty sure the troopers weren't too happy to see that wreck and no one to take the blame.
Though the accident itself was not his fault the traffic delay (boat in middle of road) was his sole responsibility and he should not have left it. Especially since he already had video of the assault and the assailants contact information (license plate#)
IMHO

Agree. He wanted to confront him and that was stupid on his part. I just watched the end and they claim to have been injured as well, which makes the decision to follow even more crazy.

just leave the wackos alone

he should have let him in and left it at that

Thats a nightmare. Glad u lived to tell the tale. Hi five to dad for saying damn the boat im catching this bastard. I like that.

I saw this on Facebook a month or so ago.
I think the red truck is completely wrong and the story is way one sided. It appears to me that he had plenty of time to avoid being hit.

There were links to the news story about it on FB, short story, the red truck hit the guy as he merged into the interstate...
Gotta go, I'll type more later.

I'll bet it was not to fun showing up a half hour later and telling the trooper ummm....that's my boat it use to be on this trailer!

Holy smokes...I would hate for anyone to be in a situation like that when the red truck lost control.

I am not sure why some people become so angry when driving. Always practice defensive driving.

That looked more like a SPECIAL TEAMS play!
