Swim deck shower use

I could see the benefit even on fresh water. But the hassle of cleaning/winterizing/and repair keeps me from the mod.

Winterizing?..lol..sure glad I'm in SW Florida..what's that ? (Now trust me, I'm from Maryland AND was stationed @ Ft. Drum, NY...I know winter).

Repair?...on going with a boat ! :)

I use a stream machine squirt gun for cleaning the deck off.

Looks like you could put this in a bucket and attach it to the stream machine and have a manual squirt rinse.....

I have never used the shower.

I installed a shower and bounced it to Bimini and back. A year later it has not needed repair.

I left it near full over the winter. You can see the water level in the pic above. But she was parked in my basement garage so no concern of freezing. Everything was clean and the water was fine when we took her out after the winter.

Damn over-chlorinated, hormone & chemical infested Arkansas city water ! :)

I have fresh Well Water :)

It is a balance. Do you get the benefit vs the effort. For my mileage, I felt not, your mileage may vary, especially in SW Florida.

The portable shower is a good option for those that will not use it all the time. I installed a 16 gallon tank. 8 gallons would have been sufficient. We only refilled a couple of times during the Bimini trip and we never ran out.

Another time I used the shower was washing the squid off of hands while fishing!

The dimensions are listed in the Product Q & A for the 8 gallon. It should fit, but not so sure about the 13 gallon version.

Some pics of the kit install. It's a real clean kit, and it got rid of the inop radio controls. I might leave the hose in there and just reroute the switch to the compartment or helm. With the switch on, the pump still has a built in pressure switch so it doesn't run unless you're using it. Can't find a pic of the tank in the compartment. But it's opposite the batteries. balances out that weight nicely.

I'm assuming ^^^ is the Yamaha kit. To expensive
Yes, it is the Yamaha Kit. Absolutely it can be done MUCH cheaper. I just had some budget at the time and didn't feel like piecing something together.

I found my Yamaha kit for $200 brand new, I think I got it from Amazon or maybe EBay, I don't remember I'll have to look it up.
I was going to try to piece one together but I found the kit for that price and figured it was worth it to not spend time finding and buying all the parts.

I'm moving to the San Antonio area

Might need at least some shower solution if you are going there. From what I understand, the lakes are still quite low. Might need that extra water to just float in the middle of Medina...

I saw Canyon Lake was coming up some, that is probably where I'll go the most, maybe all that flooding up in North TX will make its way down there:-)

On the lake, I've found that this one works really well. It's internal battery powered, and I have small camp sink that I use it to do dishes in. For bimini, I was just going to take a 5 gallon bucket of water with lid and throw this in. Cheap, easy and no drilling required. Only downside is that you need to charge it. I was surprised when we took boat out of storage this year, even without charging the (pump) battery all winter, it worked just fine for 2 sessions of dinner dishes before I remembered to charge it.

Well, I bought the above 8 gallon Big Kahuna portable shower. We are very pleased with it.

We used ours every time we got out of the water in Bimini. The water is really salty there and it was nice not to be sticky after we dried off.

I also use it at the lake as the water is murky and the bottom sand is black which tracks to and stains carpets. Also it is used to clean grilling utensils and wash out cups etc...

Definitely dont use it every time (we do dockside bar/restaurant hopping) but when we are at anchor and swimming, it will get used.
