1. It seems like years since the prices have been this low. For example, I had a 2002 20' seadoo challenger with a 40 gallon tank. The boat test review stated that at $2 a gallon you could fill up for just $80, when I owned it around 2005 and 2006 gas was $4 to $5 per gallon (i.e., $160 to $200 per tank/per day, 2 strokes burn it quick!).

2. My son finishing 14th of 54 at a Jr. High Cross country meet (not first but far from worst). Hmmm, parenthood is a trip.

3. I'm refurbishing a PWC trailer and while prepping it for paint I noticed an object mounted in the forward part of the intake grate of the Polaris PWC sitting on the trailer. It is the white thing between two of the grate's tines. I think I know what it is but does anyone care to take a guess?

Gas prices have been going down here in the midwest also. A week or two ago we reached $2.67 a gal. for regular unleaded in our area. Makes filling up my truck a lot less painful.

Also, Congratulations to your son. That is a great finish.

And finally, could the white thing in the intake grate be a pickup for a speedometer?

The White thing is an articulateing keel that helps with slow speed steering and keeps the ski on track :winkingthumbsup"
I love your low gas prices in the US but on an up note, we too here in the UK have noticed recently our gas (petrol ;)) prices dropping, still pay $9 a gallon though!

Well done to your son, any achievement is worthy of praise.

Looks like a pitot tube for speed.
Grats on the son!
Gas here is 2.85 currently.

Yep Pitot tube

Congrate to your son!!

gas 2.61 here currently

Congrats on the run for your son! I think your gas prices are lower than I have seen here in Texas! And isn't it amazing, you take a group of guys and gals, and put them in a user group like we have here, and they become pretty dang knowledgable when it comes to watercraft! How else will you know your ski hits 70 without that pitot tube fin? But it sure seems like a strange place to put it! It would seem to me that water entering the intake would be accelerated slightly, giving an indication of higher than actual speed...maybe the speedo is calibrated for that? Congrats again to your son (and to you to dad!), and by the way, how far was the race?

wtf?? why is gas still high in IA?? We're supposedly one of the "lower" cost states....our ethanol is 2.99 and regular is 3.29 :(

$2.89 is the lowest price/gallon for Regular unleaded in my area....
Still paying $3.50-3.60 for diesel....

That is a strange place for a pitot pickup....I would think it would mess with the water flow into the intake too....

I forgot to mention that this is the cheap "Costco" gas price, outside of costco gas is about 20 cents more per gallon.

Thanks for the kind words on my sons performance, he is happy as long as his time improves week after week but cross country is really just conditioning for track season for him. Each race is only about a mile long. Hinge have really changed since I was in jr. High when there were no sports available until 9th grade.

Yes I think its a speed sensor as well and agree its in a strange spot as non of the other pwcs or jet boats I've owned ever had a speed sensor in the intake.

I paid $ 2.49 at Costco for regular last week. Then $3.12 for Diesel at a local gas station.

I paid $2.17 using gas reward. Filled up the Suburban for under $70
