That would be even harder...

I can see the boat turns left while he's out to the right to help with speed. Does the boat turn back right once he's around to help get back to a straight pull forward again?

Never done it before, but I'm sure going to try next season.

Turn hard left to whip him, then when he gets to whipped out as far forward as possible stop the boat with throttle to neutral, let him pass the front of the bow and then immediately crank the wheel opposite and full throttle to keep as much slack out of the rope as possible. It’s not as difficult as it might seem, all about timing, but you want a good spotter in the boat so you can be sure you can keep an eye on him snd other traffic even more vigilant than usual.

That makes more sense!
I was wondering about the passing part. Not sure how well it would work with cruise control. But it might work very well. Ridesteady would disengage with throttles pulled back but then it should pick right back up on reacceleration.

This! Used to do it on a slalom ski, but that was decades ago at this point. To be honest, I imagine it being a lot easier on a wakeboard. Next year...

And then... you get run over by the boat. I know it’s a jet but still...

True, but you’d have more balance on the backside when your speed drops the most.

Famous last words! Lolol. Of course several of us here will attempt it next time we are out! Is it smart? Probably not. I should be saving up for a neck brace, lol.

Yeah I agree, the amount you would sink as the your speed drops on the backside of the menuver on a wakeboard would a fraction of the same on the ski - which would make the pickup of the rope slack much easier I’d imagine. But I also agree the catching an edge at that speed on a wake board would knock you the F out and really mess you up bad.

The last time I did it, I didn’t even have a driver’s license yet! And they say youth is wasted on the young!

But really, it’s 50/50 skier/driver. A great skier couldn’t do it without some who knows what they are doing behind the wheel, but an average skier could probably do it with a great driver.

Do you guys have more footage of this maneuver? Ski or wakeboard.
I’m fascinated!

Although I haven’t wakeboard before, this will be a goal my brother and I will attempt this summer.
