Warranty Claim?

So I just called Polk (long wait times) and Polk told me they didn't build this stereo, it's actually a company called ASA Electronics who just pays Polk for their name, BTW, I find that to be very lame.

Polk gave me the number to ASA electronics, I called them, they wanted the stereo model number. I gave them PA4A (name on the remote). The lady on the phone said these are not normally installed on the swim platform (I am guessing that is also the model of the stereo). After I told her this remote is indeed on MANY boats, she took my info and said she will call me back.

She is going to look around for an extra knob? Sounds very amateurish to me.

My dealer said if we go the warranty route, we are replacing the entire stereo. I really don't care, just want the stupid knob fixed.

Maybe I should glue the thing on? After 10 hours it feel off and I never used it.

This is the same thing with the JBL decks on the older boats. It's Prospec Electronics that import the gear and use the JBL nameplate.

The stereo control on the swim platform is actually the display for the head unit and the remote is the connext system. Make sense?

Finally lost the cover to my swim platform "remote" at Shelbyville....I've joined the coverless crowd!

Joe, a place called Steve's Canvas shop just past webster on 104. Turn left on basket road then the first right (I forget the street). Hes in a shared space with a few other companies.

They can easily repair this sort of thing, he said if what he did doesn't hold he'll just make new straps, thicker than the originals.

I believe I've heard of this shop before, I'm looking to have a new cockpit and bow cover made. I'll have to give them a call.
