I don't have a lift and after 2 weeks already have a yellow ring around the bottom. How do I get it off and is there any way to prevent or at least make removing it easier?

Every time you can, scrub your waterline with a brush on a pole. Don't ignore it... Brush it on a regular basis.

Depending on how severe the stain is you might be able to remove it with your pole brush and some common boat soap. If not step up to a degreaser or specific waterline cleaner. Keeping the area as clean as possible and waxed is the best method.

As @Murf'n'surf stated... Every chance you get. Every time we go to the sand bar or beach and let the kiddos swim I'm out in the water with a brush and sponge and am cleaning (with lake water) the hull of the boat as far as I can reach.

I also put on rejex this season and that helps tremendously so far. I still get the water line after a day in the water but it wipes right off. I have a slip but the hull gets cleaned after every trip. Good luck!

Getting a dirty bottom while wet slipping is like getting a headache after drinking to much beer.. You know it is going to happen but you still do it because it is worth it... I agree a lift would be nice but not always in the budget.. Those things are spendy.. I agree do as much as you can when you can, the rest will clean up at the end of the year with some elbow grease.. I don't like a dirty bottom either but I bought the boat to use it, not to let it sit.. And I for one use it a lot more when it is in the water...have a great summer with your dirty bottom.

That is why I went with an Airdock...just a little over 3K brand new. Going into my third season and all is good! Clean and fast boat every outing. No scrubbing. Better gas mileage and less corrosion. I calculated the gas mileage and cleaning costs (I was pulling the boat and paying the marina twice a year to clean the boat) and the ROI was in just under 5 years it paid for itself and any residual value/usage was bonus!

If you can't install a lift or an air dock, you might consider a liner.
Here's an example:

http://armoredhull.com/

At $100 per linear ft., a 24 ft. model is approx $2400,
a 30 ft. model is approx $3000.
It’s Extremely Durable! (from site)

I don't understand how this airgate concept works.....so your boat is in a "protected pool".....does that suggest that this pool:
  1. Has no algae in it
  2. Has no crustaceans living in it?
I'm lost as to how it prevents growth.....unless you are dumping chemicals in there???

You fill with fresh water and anti-algae "stuff" (that's a technical term)

Huh....I didn't see any mention of pumping out thousands of gallons of salt water, replacing it with thousands of gallons of fresh water, and then the adding "Stuff" LOL. Seems like an airdock would be much easier....and close to the same price for materials and lower ongoing operating costs and more effective (not sitting in any water).

Interesting option none-the-less.

I called a buddy of mine who used to have one of these in Marina del Rey. He said it worked fairly well. There's a floating chlorine dispenser just like some pools have. Between the chlorine and the fact that the water is trapped in there and the oxygen in the water disappears fairly quickly, marine growth is minimal. There is a fresh water hook-up that turns on and off to circulate the chlorine - it doesn't fill the whole liner. It's supposed to have EPA approval - all I know is that if it didn't, California would be all over it!
I'll bet if you came and went everyday this would be a real pain in the ass, but once a week is no problem.

Hey Julian, which Airdock model did you get? The B/C or the C?

Business must be good at Airdock.. I emailed last Wed with some questions about buying two set ups, one for my Yamaha and one for my buddy's tritoon that is kept at my dock also. I got a short reply on Friday morning and I sent two more emails with questions right after I got the response but have had no response to those yet. I guess I will have to call them to spend some money. Maybe I am inpatient but I think if someone wanted to spend 7-8000 bucks with me I would be a litter quicker on the gun. Maybe they need to hire Julian as a salesman. Thanks for the info Julian.

I got great service from them on the phone. Not sure they are as quick with email....they might be one of those older style operations that hasn't moved with the times! LOL Like the wonderful lady at Centroid (for replacement fuel sender)

I went to the Web site also and read some of the installation sheets. I know it's a little less money than a regular lift but if something comes with a patch kit It makes me a little nervous to me it says I'm gonna need it
