I have one of Charger guys dual bank Guest Chargers...like he says....connect and forget about it. Just plignore in one normal 3 prong ac plug and you are done.
Sorry, I was not getting any notifications in my email about this thread.
Ideally you want a mounted charger so they can get hard wired to the battery posts. Plug in, walk away, forget about it. Easy.
Not too much of a big fan of portable chargers when dealing with multiple batteries, banks, etc. Too many possible errors.
Darned! missed it, got a pro-mariner and mounted it. oh, well. Hope someone will jump on your eBay offer - the way to go for sure.
Thank you for chiming in!
I have one of these - works great, I've not run the plug anywhere, just run the cord into the boat from the garage. Got a green extension cord though so it blends in with the grass.
I just did mine, and the outlet. Missed out on @ChargerGuy sale, and somehow didn't think of finding him directly on ebay... I'm obviously too hooked up on this site.
Still wasn't too bad. Wouldn't want to have it any other way, it is pretty much a perfect set up for me.
You may want to consider mounting that prosport on a piece of wood, and then the wood to the carpet. That charger, like most waterproof chargers, expel heat through the case which can get up to 140 Degree F. It will not melt the rug, but it could damage it after an extended period.
I have to make a mental note on this forum... a mounted dual bank charger is on my winter mod list.... @ChargerGuy the one u sell would u also recommend not mounting it directly against the carpet?
I wouldn't suggest mounting any charger of any kind against any carpet or metal surface. Fiberglass or wood only. It is being a bit over cautious, but in the end it is about doing it 100% right.
I will say too, that my pulsetech is hardwired to the battery posts. It has a small lead that is the only thing I have to plug in when at home. If I wanted to use this charger mounted in the boat, it would be easy to mount and only have a plug on the end of an extension cord to deal with. Or, you could mount an external plug to the side of the boat and plugin from there. Lots of options. And...there is noting portable in terms of use or performance. It is just designed to be mounted outside the boat...which could easily be adapted to inside the boat.
And I did find a 30A marine pigtail for $16 that had 3 separate 15A female receptacles grouped nicely. So I am using my pulsetech here at Powell. But it is just laying inside the engine compartment because it mounts on the wall in the garage at home.
I am running this Pro Sport Dual Bank 20amp and absolutely love it. I have a 27 Group Deep Cycle battery I use as my #1 battery. It runs all of my stereo nonsense and I don't have to worry about running it down too low like a dual purpose. My #2 battery is a 24 Group Dual Purpose that is for backup. I have had the 24 Group for 6 seasons, and the 27 Group for 4 Seasons, and both are strong! I have it mounted on a carpeted piece of wood on L brackets so it gets plenty of air.

I used nylon spacers between the charger and the mounting surface (flame resistant carpet liner covered plywood bulkhead, in my case) to help with heat dissipation.
I use this 4 bank charger. I mounted it next to my side door in my garage. The door is right next to where i keep the boat. I use two banks for the boat and the other 2 plug into my jetski and also whatever bike I dont use too often.
It came with 4 long cable extentions as well as 4 alligator and 4 eyelet quick connectors
That's a nice install! I didn't bother drilling any holes since the only time I am plugged in the boat is on the trailer with the cover on. I just run an extension cord to the outlet and call it a day. I never remove the batteries, and in the winter time I periodically plug the boat in to keep it topped off. I tend every the batteries on everything I own and it makes a world of a difference.
