It should not have been there and caused cavitation around 3k RPM. The clean out plug access did not help as the impeller had sliced most of the way through and it was stuck on the impeller. Fortunately the jets are pretty easy to disassemble.
 
I agree with @Murf'n'surf it looks the the anode that sits below the jet pump on the ride plate.
 
It is plastic and hollow.

Looks like an impeller out of a pool pump. Most of the outer fins look like they are broken off.
 
Nah..... Are there floating skeet targets? Very strange for sure.
 
Anti-pooling pole base or top for something?
 
That is a nasty little piece to suck up no doubt ! Dont we have a thread on here somewhere for "worse debris found".....I think there is a golfball in there somewhere !!

Pumps are ok right?. no damage taken on ?
