Repower 2004 AR210 with MR-1 HO's

exhaust all plumbed up and dry fitted need a couple of electrical boots and it can be buttoned up and all the clamps checked... used stainless single ear clamps on everything all the steel spring clamps I've seen turn into little bits of rust here in the salt water in short order...

got the starter and ground cables all made and dressed off, final assembly of the exhaust...

ready to drop in boat tomorrow...

I am missing the 4 funky bolts that hold the intake horns to the throttle body on the port engine... i found the only two in the US... the others on backorder... I'll use some OTS Stainless cap screws and washers for now... Im also missing one exhaust transition coupler however that should be here tomorrow....

Some fresh Dykem showed up today so the engines go in and the final positioning, layout and welding on the mounts can happen!!

I got the engineering/mfg drawings for the belly fuel tank... I need to check all the measurements and sign off release to build...

Lol there is a bit more work to do... we will get some video... I wont have the fuel cell for a couple weeks yet and there is just a bit of prep for that... and I have a ton of wiring integration details to deal with but the heavy lifting is all done... I have to find a place in the console for the mechanical oil pressure gauges, install and wire up the AR230 HO Tachs, install the throttle cables... Cooling water hoses in and out... the port steering cable needs to be replaced as it has locked up in the interim...

Its coming though. I think the re-power will be great update to the boat.. sometimes I think Mfg's go too far with boats, gismos gadgets electronics all are cool but add cost and weight and complexity... The should also offer bare bones versions of the boats and let people add just what is needed for their own boating mission. and im getting really tired of this 15' sea-doo its better that bumming rides but it's no where near the boat the old AR210 is...

time will tell...

welded the exhaust transitions... no stack of dimes more like a pile of loose nickels ... they wont leak

only worked briefly on the repower today checking connections and clamps... spent half the day removed 500 rusty screws from a box trailer I bought and installed 500 stainless screws in their place.. installed new 2500# springs, 1 inch longer shackles (cause I went up from ST205 LRC to ST225 LRD tires) , greaseable axle bolts (had to make a set of custom sleeves for the top shackle bolt) , u bolts and spring plate, painted the axle and, set the wheel bearing preload and greased it... I had to have someplace to store all the boat parts... went out for a late afternoon cruise for sunday funday... water was still a little nippy 77F...

spun the engines over with the starter till I got oil in the mechanical line... checked the oil level and its spot on...

a little bout with Omicron slowed me down a bit... back on it today... Dykem on the engine rails to layout the final holes and welds, stuck some nylon stand offs on the electronics boxes to take the pressure off the ears and put new rectifier's on... rigging to set the engines in...

no I planned for it... i did have to pull the exhaust transition cone off but that was it.... the engines go in the hole crossways then rotate 90 to set on the mounts... I have lots of room once they are in place... there is room to slide the engines forward 4" to allow for service of the mid bearing seals and laterally 2" each way to allow the other engine to rotate for installation/removal. there is also plenty of room around the engines for access... and you can actualy stand between them and the oil tank makes a good seat... lol

the old hairy eyeball is pretty close... off the shelf cast alu turbo pipe... some 3" 4 ply silicone couplings and wala !!

UPS says my ski locker ATL Super Cell tank be here on Monday.... Wooo Hoooo.... 69 Gallons gross with 3% loss for foam baffling so 66 gallons net...
