There is a rumor right now that you could possibly see it pre released in Feb at the Miami boat show not sure if they will sell them under a 2020 model it maybe 2021 before you can buy one.

Is the speculation the 24’ is growing to 25’ then? Is the 21’ going to grow to 22’ as well?

I have not heard sizing specs yet but was told they built a new hull specifically for the larger FSH and it would get twin 1.8 supercharged motors and a larger fuel capacity. Once again I will say these are rumors but they come from a source I feel has no reason to lie about them.

So is it certain there is a 24'-27' FSH coming out soon? I have heard nothing solid about this until now.

Unless they can solve the grass issue or make the jet drives more efficient, especially at trolling speeds, what's the point?

1) NOBODY is buying I/Os to go inshore fishing which is basically what a jet drive is.

2) These buyers for boats in that size range also like to go offshore and they need range, efficiency, and they may be trolling all day long and LOL, they are looking for weed lines and there is lots of grass! The 275 already has twice the size fuel tank for basically the same range as the prior boats because of how inefficent the SVHOs are. So a larger tank with SVHO means absolutely nothing unless they make it FOUR times bigger.

3) They buyers also want lots of storage for bait wells, fish, etc. multiple LARGE floor lockers, etc. They are not going offshore to catch small fish. They are not really going to go inshore flats fishing in a 25' boat either, especially a jet, especially if it's shallow.

4) For shallow water, I would much rather have an outboard on a jack plate than a jet drive. A 21' FSH drafts 17". The 19' FSH still drafts 16"!! That boat is not even allowed into some areas of Mosquito lagoon for redfish (12" max). A 24' pathfinder needs just 12". Most bayboat specs kill the FSH series specs in terms of draft, fuel efficiency, bait wells and lockers, top speed, etc. Of course, they are 90% made for fishing, 10% for family (if that). While the 21' FSH needs 17", you can't really use it in 17"!!!! You really need more depth or you are sucking up the bottom. The other boats are going to do circles around the jet powered FSHs in shallow water.

The 19 and 21 FSH are definiely nice compromises and I can see a purpose for them. Small and shallow enough draft that you can have fun inshore and good enough for close to shore offshore fishing, etc. But depending on where you live and what type of fishing you want to do, they're not going to get you into the shallowest water unless you plan on poling or trolling your way in.

A 25 FSH with NORMAL non-supercharged engines and a 100 gallon tank might have a chance. If they can keep the 'family' aspect of boating with really good seating front AND back, it could do even better. Problem is with fishing boats, the more family you put into it, the less fishability it tends to have. I don't think anybody has cracked that formula in the center console market yet.

Lots of cc's in midwest lakes. Never seen one fishing. Marinas every 20-30 miles so don't care to carry 500 gals fuel. But good luck spreading your pissyness

@Dough I don't necessarily see it as pissyness. As an FSH owner I agree with a lot of what @ptwb is saying. And his comment is dead on, I purchased the boat KNOWING I am not a hardcore fisherman, I do 90% of my boating in lakes and rivers, and I don't need the range to go offshore. I will say, I do not see any CC's up here on the smaller lakes and rivers (besides the Great Lakes) and the one and only time I've come across another 21' FSH was in Pensacola beached on the ICW by a restaurant. Couple of 19's out here and there. Perhaps they are popular elsewhere? I've said it many times before, the bigger FSH doesn't look as feasible to me. For starters, if it isn't less than $60,000 then the competition will be too stiff. Frankly, if I hadn't bought at the end of last year and gotten a $5k discount, I'd likely have ended up in a 22' Century or Sea Hunt (or similar). I love my boat for what I do with it, but, I'm just not sure the value would be there on a 24' or larger Yamaha.

@Dixie Highway i expect this thing to be $80k it is for sure going to be in tough competition I think the only way they can compete is if they keep the swim deck on the back as there are not a lot of fishing boats that offer that family friendly feature. It won’t be bought probably by a hard core offshore guy but buy a family boater who maybe throws in a couple days of fishing here and there. It will be interesting to see how it plays out only way I would be in is if it has a really high freeboard if it sits like the current 24’s I would still go with one of the other offshore boats at that price point.

I am just pointing out what people (at least here in FL) want in a GOOD fishing boat.

It's one thing to build a GOOD fishing boat but that some buyers didn't choose to actually use for fishing or they only fish a little. It's another thing to build something that is more about 'looking' like a fishing boat, and I understand there is a market for those, just IMO, don't think that market is really that big. Here in FL, there are more and more large center consoles that are all about seating and not really for fishing but that is a small market (and they are expensive). Technically, you can fish from anything, I've gone fishing from our 230. Ever single person I know with an actual fishing boat, goes fishing.

I google lake michigan raft ups, and while, yeah there are 'some' center consoles, they don't seem that common.

The exploding market right now, here in FL at least, is the bayboat market. But I've yet to see a bayboat that is just as much about family and friends as fishing. There is always some compromising.

What should Yamaha's target be? People that want a really good fishing boat or something that looks like a fishing boat?

I'd love to see somebody make my dream bayboat, maybe it could be the 25 OR 27 FSH, but unless Yamaha can solve some fundamental issues with jet drives, somehow provide lots of good seating (at least 10+) that doesn't then get in the way of fishing or easy storage/bait wells, and still provide a nice family friendly transom (no lowering transoms please), etc, it could never be the awesome florida fishing and family boat I personally dream of.

That doesn't exist yet. Kudos to the 1st company that pulls that off.

Center consoles are much better offshore boats because you sit much further back in the boat, and thus enjoy a smoother ride in waves.... so I expect a 24' would sell well just for that reason.

There has been lots of talk about when they might build one.....so the comedian in me says it will be here:

@ptwb I want a 25ft Yamaha Center console. I haven't fished in 25+ years, and even then I only had a single pole and a tiny tackle box.

The center console has a particular look to it, as well as some functionality when docking/tieing up with others that I would prefer over a bowrider. I like the more open air atmosphere of it as well (There is little breeze in the cockpit on a bowrider at anchor)

The current Scarab 255 Open ID is the competition here, and if I was buying a new boat today, I would be hard pressed to get a 24ft Yamaha over the Scarab based on layout alone. Give ma 24-25ft Center console, with twin jet drives, Yamaha engine reliability, and cleanout ports, and I'll head to the bank right now.

The one thing I like about the bow rider is the full windshield and ability to get most of the occupants out of the rain and sun.....this is a big downside to me for the CC.

I agree on the rain front. The bowrider wins that hands down. If you have a block out-plate/fabric under the windshield, you can close off that section and stay somewhat dry. The CC leaves everyone exposed for the entirety of the storm/rain event.

I think getting out of the sun is a double edged sword. The 242XE and 242LS with the hard mounted bimini are excellent shade providers. With my AR though, the shade is just OK. I've resorted to adding an umbrella to get the shade I needed/wanted on the boat from time to time. Interestingly enough, this giant umbrella has also served me well to keep occupants dry in rain events, when coupled with the AR bimini top. I would suspect adding shade is easier than adding rain protection. Especially if you have to remain underway while being rained on, my umbrella would NOT survive that abuse at all.

Do they even make "camper canvas" for CC boats? I'm not sure I've ever seen that now that I think about it.

I have see some side canvas that would help alot, but still wont get you close to the coverage on my X. It's all about balance ...each boat has its benefits.

Just need one of those monster cc boats with a cabin and 8 seats under the center, and 5 outboards!
