It is a solid plan. I am on the same plan, potentially. As long as no life surprises crop up this winter. 2022 boats will get another price increase, every year it is the same, although this year it has been much larger. Will have to see how production lines go over the next 10-12 months.
So I called a few dealers and this is what I know.
252 SD in going to be offered in Yacht Blue and Black Cherry only. Black is going away. Not sure about interior colors yet, but he heard that they may be offering a choice on both. Either warm or cool.
Pricing is now $90,249 MSRP. Up from the $82,999. +8.7%
He also said that the SD will now have a bigger Connext screen than even the SE. He was unsure about sizing but said this is one of a few upgrades he was teased with when speaking with the Yamaha representative. They were looking to make more of a difference between the SE and the SD.
He was pulled away from our call and then when he came back was more tight lipped with any additional information. Not sure if he got reprimanded, or if he ran out of things he could "make up". He also said to expect some promotions from Yamaha by next summer.
DISCLAIMER: Not sure how accurate any of this is, it is just what I was told. If you are like me you are all chomping at the bit for more information, so I thought I would share. :)

Somebody posted this on Facebook claiming their 2022 212s was in and this is the pic they posted. Pretty low tech on their post, might be an old model year. Not sure. But it's something.😁

Thanks for the info.

It doesn't seem realistic there will be any promotions. Right now the orders are stacking up going into next spring and summer. There will be nothing to do promotions on if this continues since things will be presold from 6 months to 1 year out.

With the prices these are starting to go for, there are going to be more options out there to purchase.

I wonder if the 252SE and 252SD will come in different colors, that will help differentiate them. For 2021, they were the exact same boat except the SD had the DRiVE components dropped in and a 2" chrome E was replaced with a 2" chrome D on each side. You can't tell them apart if you're more than 5 feet away.

That price hike would be a tough pill to swallow, with prep fees and taxes that'll be $95-$100K+ depending on the tax hit. In two years, the MSRP for Yamaha's top non-wake 24/25 foot boat will have gone up more than 17 grand, from $73K (2020 242SE) to over $90K (2022 252SD). It'll be interesting to see what other distinguishing features the 252SD gets.

Agree 100%. We are looking at the SE and have a deposit down but to make no changes or effort to support a little price increase sucks. Not saying I won't buy it because we do like the new model, it just sucks. All boat prices have gone up and I'm going to get the difference when I sell my boat.

Your last statement is what will drive incentives. And keep in mind other manufacturers are doing the same. Some manufacturers have increased pricing by as much as 30% for aluminum pontoons etc. You act like Yamaha is out to get everyone. They are just passing along the increase in building materials, labor issues, and everything else.

@mostwanted No I doubt there will be incentives. Just because I would purchase something else if I was in the market for the price range, doesn't mean that there is not somebody else whom will just buy them for the inflated and increasing prices. Until the market stabilizes and there is more product than demand, there is no reason for incentives and no downward pressure on pricing.

I hear you but its not making sense. There are incentives right now. And the boats are coming in right now. So you saying there wont be incentives is false as there is one right now. My guess is this incentive will linger but to say there are none is false period.

I spoke with a Yamaha rep early last week. She said Yamaha is holding a dealer meeting on 8/17 to discuss models/colors/pricing and rollout. She anticipated dealers would start decimating the info to customers soon thereafter.

What incentives have you seen for the 2022’s? I thought pricing has not even been officially released yet.

Could you indicate what incentives and discounts there are for Yamaha boats right now? Also which dealers are giving them. That would be great info for members here.

We shall see about promotions and such….

The price increases are not a surprise, there a lot of forcers in the price increase. The cost of the raw materials has skyrocketed, shipping costs have tripled even quintupled, there are huge knots that still exist in the logistical industry / supply chains, and inflation are all factors in that 8% price increase. Frankly I’m surprised the cost increases are not higher than 8-9%.

Yamaha sees a hot market, evidenced by the sheer number of orders and will try to produce as many units possible to sell to its main demographic purchaser. I’m sure their marketing staff realizes this hot market has a not too distant sunset ahead, so they can’t really expand production to meet current demand on a long term basis which is a challenge for Yamaha, how to ramp up production for the current demand but be able to scale back once the demand drops off.

I don't expect to see anything in the way of incentives for 2022, as a large portion of the model year's production has already been pre-ordered. We are still in this covid balloon with low inventory and high OTD prices (not only price increases).

Here and there we see some new boats come up for sale at dealers, as boats get delivered to dealers but customers don't take delivery of the boats they have ordered. I don't have any idea if this is becoming a more common occurrence, or not?

My expectation is that for 2023, MSRP doesn't go down, but as the covid balloon begins to deflate, we start seeing promotions once again and possible negotiations on price for this like delivery and dealer prep.

It's right on the yamaha boat page in BIG letters that say's OFFERS but you knew that... Not playing your game. You are the most negative person on this forum. Every single one of your posts is negative. I think its funny. We should be so lucky to have these types of problems. Are you mad you have one of the cheapest boats Yamaha makes or what? Lonely? Whatever it is, get a grip. Your logic is lousy at best. You complaining boats are going up in prices yet everyone selling their used boat is also at a premium. So its a wash. Sell for 5K more and pay 5K more. 2.99% at 72 mo on a luxury item isn't too shabby. And I already know where you'll go with that so I'll be one step ahead of you. If you don't qualify for it maybe you shouldn't be buying a boat in the first place. And if you need 180 mo maybe you shouldn't be buying a boat either. I'll wait for your ridiculous knumbing response on how terrible life is and how terrible Yamaha is right now... My new order is in and the boat was 5K more than last year and I just sold my boat for 5K over msrp after using it the season:) I couldn't be happier. And both my Yamaha boats have been amazing and zero issues. Seems any thread you post in needs some cheering up:) Carry on.

Have you even been to the Yamaha Boat page? lol... Doesn't matter the price of the boat. The offer is 2.99% which is strong considering the market. Not sure if people just like to be confrontational or just haven't searched. That is an incentive and its an offer. To say there are none is wrong. The market is up on Yamaha and its up on everyone's else boats as well. People acting like Yamaha is out to rob people smh... And if the offers, price increases or anything else isn't up your alley there are plenty of other brands so jump ship. Not directed towards you, just a general statement. The only people I agree with being pissy are the ones who had deposits on 21's and had their orders pulled and then given a 22 at the increased price. And I'm not so sure they weren't offered some sort of courtesy but haven't researched it. Everyone else should be happy to enjoy a new boat:)

Their finance incentive isn’t really an incentive! You’re much better off checking with your local credit union. I got 2.4% for 84 months. Much better than yamahas “promotion”

My credit union has a tiered system (based on highest account balance) so what one qualifies for may not be what others get offered. Either way cash is cheap these days so I’d assume many places can match/beat the 2.99. Not that the average customer would even look for a better rate…
