2005 AR 230 (and maybe SX230) owners...do you have these installed from the factory?

Do you have these stock?

OK, this came up on Facebook, and the owner said these came stock on his 2005 AR230. My SX230 didn't have them, and I've crawled around a lot of boats in my time going to gatherings, reading hours for people etc.

what compartment is that? I've never seen it on the couple of 04-06's I've been on,
maybe stock to him includes "installed by dealer" vs. from the factory?
I didn't see it on any of the parts schematics in the maintenance manual,

Yes, I have them on mine in the rear-most compartment on either side of the upper swim platform. I hang my ropes from them - not sure what they were intended for.

I have them on the outside of engine compartment on both sides of my sx230. The back hatches I store docking lines on them 2 sets each side of boat. Along with fenders for associated side as well

uggg, is there a hole I can crawl into :banghead::rolleyes:, I stand corrected, why haven't I seen that before, part #62

I had a test drive on an '04 back in like '07 or so. I remember the dealer at the time pointing those out. If memory serves me, they were used to hold the anchor light/pole in place for quick/easy access if the compartment was full of other gear.

I don't think so, my anchor light has brackets in the starboard under seat storage. The light would never fit length-wise in these brackets and fit in the compartment. We may never know what they were intended for!

think link I posted above was from the 05 manual,

That’s kind of what I was thinking they could be used for but look small for a light pole. I’d probably do as most as doing with them though and use it to nearly hold ropes and such and just toss the light pole under one of the under seat or head storage compartments.

One thing I like about the older Yamaha boats was the side rear storage on top of the “hump”. The new ones should still have that for storage.

Nope the anchor light/pole is rubber clamp/brscket running along the starboard aft under seat storage.

These are about 8 -10inches apart snd the compartment at top is maybe 2ft wide. I automatically figured they were made for rope/fender storage/hooks. Mine are stainless and easily accessible for docking situations.

Speaking of the hump storage space where these are located if I get ambitious enough I will move batteries and find a large ballast bag to fill that void for surfing. I imagine it would be in the 600-800lb range

I agree. There is a ton of space in that area that goes mostly unused.

On the starboard side of mine, I take the tube and roll it up, then "stuff" it in that space. Takes an "insert and rotate" movement, but it will stand the roll up vertically into that space. Makes decent use of the space. The Port side is currently filled up with the orange life vests that "make you legal" in a an inspection situation. They are just extras we keep around that we can toss to people if they want one and we don't know/care if it comes back to us. Had to place one, then lift it and place one under it, then lift two and place one under it. I think we have 4-5 in there.

A door to access that space from the top would be sweet. I've considered cutting the fiberglass there, and making a door, but I'm unsure how load bearing it might be, and trying to finish the edges, add a latch, and such seems more daunting than I want to deal with.
