2nd bilge pump question

So I wanted to install a 2nd bilge pump under the swim deck but the only place I can get it mounted where it actually cuts off when it drains the original cuts off after the new one. Frustrated and my yard is flooded from all the retries. I can make it a manual pump but I don’t want to do that.

So you’re saying your original pump drains lower? Were you trying to get it to drain lower with the new one or just wanted a second pump for safety?

That doesn’t seem like that big of a deal since I feel like the factory ones get most of the water out but maybe I’m not understanding.

I'm not following either. If it helps, when I installed my 2nd bilge, I ran a separate discharge hose. I didn't use the same hose so the two are completely independent.

Second pump will still add immense value even if it drains only water that is slightly higher than the old one. Are you adding a float? A little water is not a big deal, but no alarm and no float are a problem, you want to know the boat is flooding/taking in water as early as possible

As I just said in a related thread, figure out where the water is coming from to alleviate the bilge pump(s) running at all.

The clean out tray not being sealed is the main culprit, (put the sealant on after the tray is installed), installing an inspection hatch riser also helps.

Then there is the anchor locker drain. The factory push in style drain fitting can allow water to get in through the gap in the top cap and the hull. Have a look at this thread. https://jetboaters.net/threads/replaced-my-anchor-locker-drain-fitting-due-to-leaks.32891/

There have been folks who have found their factory installed deck drain scupper was not sealed properly and water is getting in that way, many have also swapped out the factory scupper thru hull fitting for a stainless steel one.
