AR240 2015 steering upgrade. Broke again!

The threads on the broken rod are threaded all the way through. The port side is only 1/4 of the way in. Maybe this is the culprit?image.jpeg

The dealer gave me the part # f3f-u1470-00-00, but the prices I see for them are 4-500 bucks! Still looking. Just unsure of what I am looking for!

You need to find the number printed on the cable up under the helm or call Teleflex and have them cross reference the Yamaha part number.

I just noticed that the fracture on your original picture is exactly where the jam nut is, I have noticed over the years that over tightening that nut can cause a small fracture in the metal that eventually grows and fatigues, usually the color of the fracture area is darker where it started and shiny where it finally let go.
You may want to take a close look at the fracture surface and see if this is the case with your cable if so someone may have over tightened the jam nut when they installed the cable .

I just spoke to teleflex and was told that part is Yamaha specific and would only be able to get from Yamaha. They could not help at all. Going to have it welded and will wait for the new cable.

I called Teleflex years ago about the reverse gate cable and they told me the same thing about the reverse gate cable (I have a feeling that this is their standard OEM part # reply....even if they sell an identical part under their own part #).

Agree.

@Just1more Have you looked under your dash at the steering cables to try to find the numbers printed on the cable?

I really dont think Yamaha would spend the money to have a special cable made up just for their application. That cable looks very similar to the cable I have on my 2005. We just need that Teleflex code stamped on the jacket and we are golden.
