Couple issues 2016 242x. Connect and ballast

We are getting err message on speedo and the boat surges. Makes the gps speed control unless. We are 7 hours from Dealer so any ideas would be a help.
Also our ski locker bag looks like it only fills 60% is this normal. It says 100% but still lots of room.

First thing I would do it to remove and reseat all the plugs into the Connext Screen (behind the helm) and to the larger of the two boxes under the starboard side storage.

As for the ballast fill...there is a ballast setup screen in the diagnostic section of the Connext screen....(press and hold the sys button down for 10 seconds)....I've never messed with it....but I recall you can make some adjustments there. Did you pay a setup fee to your dealer? This is what it is for...sounds like they didn't run through the set up process fully.

Regarding the GPS speed and engine surges with the "ERR" message....I had the same problem, and it was a PITA to get it fixed because Yamaha didn't have much of a clue. They should have some experience with it and as of now, it seems to be fixed. Read thru this thread and it may give you some idea of what they did and what it took to get it fixed.
