I had my dealer do the winterization last fall...this week I put the battery back in and connected all the cables. I have power to bilge/blower/lights/fishfinder but engines won't turn over and no power to radio/connext screen.

throttles are in neutral, lanyard in place, and rear hatch kill switches seem to be pushed down by hatch. I've played with the battery cables and they seem like they are all tightened down ok. the boat is a 2019 sx210. Any ideas what's going on? Not sure if my dealer did something I'm not aware of.

Did you check your fuses? Usually ones at the engine, and one(s) by the battery.

I had about a 10 minute heart attack on the water last year because my boat wouldn't start. The lanyard was connected, but wasn't connected well enough. I pushed and wiggled it around, but that didn't fix it. I had to remove it and reinsert it.

This happened to me once on my old stern drive. However engines should turn over with lanyard off, just won't start.

Also you should have multiple negative leads going to the battery, double check and make sure you didn't miss one. It's fairly common to do since there's multiple leads.

Check your throttles again. Sometimes I have the same problem and a little wiggle of the throttles helps engage the neutral safety switch.

So made a bone headed mistake.....I had positive and negative cables hooked up backwards at the battery. I'll check the fuses. any idea if this damaged anything more than the fuses?

Shouldn't, that's why fuses exist. Not sure if Yamaha has a main breaker on their engines that you might have to reset.

Won't have any idea until you start trying to operate stuff. Unfortunately, the fuses probablywon't protect any system components from having the cables installed backwards. Never seen the results of someone doing this on a fuel injected, ECU controlled, bussed boat before, but on a car with pretty much the same systems, it can cause all kinds of problems. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Check the inline fuse by the battery switch. Mine popped once and had similar issue.

it ended up being fuses......the fuse for the radio under the dash was blown and both battery fuses on the engines. I was able to start both engines and the connext screen started up. all the fuses near the battery were OK. I should probably check all the other fuses on the engines too....is there any trick to pull those out easier? that fuse box is so tough to get too.

thanks for the help.

This can be bad. I've seen major damage to inline fuses, radios, amplifiers and engine components. But you won't know until you connect all the leads up properly and start testing.
