Don't get in my wife's way---OUCH!

Glad they are ok! That car took a hit!

I, too, am glad to hear that your family is safe.

I've had my share of bad luck with cars lately and so has my wife, but fortunately nothing at this level.

Last week our daughter was hit while riding her motorcycle. She bounced off another vehicle and was launched through the rear window of an Audi. She sustained severe internal injuries.

The hospital called my wife, when she went to hop in the car to drive to the hospital....her windshield was cracked halfway across. Was fine when she parked. Go figure.
A couple of days later they came out to replace the windshield at her office. Took two hours - the tech left her doors open the entire time. Evidently the lights were on too. Killed the battery.
She came out at the end of the day and of course it wouldn't start. Called AAA. Hour later they come and jump it. She gets home, drives into a wall! Comes in crying about how she wrecked her car...wasn't too bad, just a scrape. Most of it polished out. I don't think the damage to your car will buff out :(

How is your daughter @Glassman ? That doesn't sound good.

No, didn't to us either.

Severely lacerated liver is what the Doc told us. It took three days in the trauma center to get the bleeding under control.

Fortunately the liver heals very quickly, no surgery was required.
Maybe now she'll get rid of that damn motorcycle. This is one of our older girls. She never did ride a bike all that well. Even my youngest daughter who rides like the wind won't get on a street bike. Not while I'm alive anyway. :shifty:

Wow, hate to hear that. They sure can be dangerous. My brother wrecked his crotch rocket a few months ago. He got very lucky. 12 staples to the head and lots of road rash, but walked out of the hospital that night.

Yow. Let's be careful out there.

@Julian - glad no one was hurt!

@Glassman - hope she makes a full recovery - AND sells whatever is left of the bike.

@Glassman Wow....hope she makes a full recovery! Our ER doc family friend call them "Donor Cycles"...so yeah...hope she realizes that its not her riding skills but the other idiots on the road! Like this 19 yr old kid that tried to beat my wife with a left turn right in front of her! He was in a hurry to get to the gym!

My wife is now more convinced than ever that she wants another SUV with full side curtain and head protection airbags (and a big enough car to take this sort of impact....so we'll probably get another Acura MDX, but wouldn't surprise me if they all have them now). Collision avoidance wouldn't have helped as she says she stomped on the breaks when he pulled across...

Thanks Julian, she seems to be on that path.

Hope you get your world back in order in good time. You think a lot like me when it comes to vehicles and loved ones. That's the reason I put my wife in a Volvo XC90, it has more air bags than I could count. Hopefully they never deploy!
