If you search SBT on the forum here you'll find some posts of people having problems with their SBT engines failing after a year. Sadly due to covid I think SBT has been the quickest turnaround time, though. I am unsure on finding any other replacements or reputable shops though, sorry! Hopefully someone will chime in with an answer.
Because mineral build up still occurs and the skirt still swells when sitting in water. I can testify to that as I rebuilt my 2016 plugs last year because I wasn't diligent enough with pulling the plugs and one was getting to the point I was having difficulty pulling it out at all! Fortunately the rebuild is cheap! (heck...all they really need to sell if the rubber ring!)
