That was not the group I was thinking or at least the video, the video I was thinking of was over 2 hours on YouTube. That seems like a very slow crossing to me and they could of went faster, but I was not there and I think we all know videos don't really reflect conditions accurately.
Count us in for the 2017 Bimini trip! Our family of 6 plus potentially 2 more who will fly over rather than crossing are coming in 2017. We homeschool so are flexible with the trip dates.
Love to join Bimini 2017 trip . Boating for a long time always in lakes around Orlando fl area . Never in salt water so have no experience for open waters .maybe just follow you guys .
@mike05, there will be many inexperienced boats in the group. It is always safer to cross in a group but it is especially helpful for those that have not been before.
I agree with @Bruce , and I would urge all new ocean goers to read old threads and see what to do and not do. Like over loading, weight distribution, and keep moving. Prepare for a bumpy ride both you and your passengers physically and mentally. Know the risks involved and what it means to be captain and responsible for the passengers safety also. Mainly be flexible with travel dates and plans.
My wife and I have dates planned off already for multiple crossings next year to align with my school plans. We are also still planning on a 2018 big trip to farther islands like the Exumas.
... new to the forum. I have been boating for many years but never far from shore. I look forward to the Bimini 2017 trip along with my family of 4. I have been reading all the posts and watching the videos regarding the past crossings, what to expect and how to prepare. The more I read the more I can't wait to go! I'm currently shopping for a 24 ft jet boat which I hope to find soon.
I am hoping to do the trip this year with my brother (leave the wife and daughter home for the 1st adventure-as she'll be in school anyway). My brother is in Tampa....so perhaps we'll see you on the road @JKallay ?
Man I love seeing all these Exuma plans that's awesome those of you who go will have a blast. I won't do my return trip to the Exumas till likely 2019 but if any of you need any help planing I'm sure any of us who went this year will defiantly be willing to help with that part. Biggest advice I could give is keep it small, plan well in advance ( our planing process was 1 year) and keep in mind that you will want a two day window of flexibility on both ends of the trip. We had to depart a day early this year for weather reasons. If its all on boats Nassau is easily achievable in one day and you probably could make it to the Exumas in one day if you pushed I know the next time I go Exuma in one day will likely be the plan.

We will get that process started tomorrow and completed in December. The resort we normally stay at is in a transition period so we will not be able to make reservations until sometime next year.
Betik, yoi can ask my wife, I do not plan, it's a huge issue in our relationship ...... I only agend! lol
I am the guy, that if Bruce was not here, would just at the last moment cross with no reservations, and figure it all out when I get to Bimini.... always worked for me...drives her crazy
so my dives go like this.....boating along......oh look, give me my sh$%, away I go....... stick to only one dive a day, no more than 33 feet, no plan needed lol
@Bruce you need to go with whatever dates work best for @Betik. He's got to have more money invested this year in making the crossing then anybody else .
Myself and a friend Rob (check out his yamaha DIY maintenance youtube Channel) have book a house on south Bimini the 10th through the 14th of July. This will be our first trip 2 Bimini. We both live in Central Florida and are used to Rough Waters in the gulf anyone have any pointers for first timers. We looked into going with the larger group from the Forum in June but it's just not going to work with everyone's work schedule.
