For normal size fenders (6") I agree 3 is appropriate. I have gone to also carry 2 - 10" fenders and use them when conditions are a little rough.

On install, do you squirt some silicon around the base at all? I’ve got an old bicycle tube I’ve used for other things. Thinking I’ll cut a couple rubber washers out of it to put on the outside.

If only installing 2 per side, I’m thinking near the back and front. Then use the mid cleat or over the windshield when needed, and add one in the mid location later. If I plan for that, I think the only change is going to be that the forward mount could be a little more forward than my original thought. I think the rear location will stay about the same.

I don’t guess anybody has any measurements that you used?

Sorry, I don’t have the measurements, they came with decent instructions but you have to have a specific tool to not drop the bolt part into the inside of the boat. It wasn’t difficult but it also wasn’t easy. In one of the photo forms I thought I took a lot of pictures of the process. I don’t think I use silicon though but it makes sense to do so.

I have the Taco brand. I don’t think any special tools required. This is all that’s in the box. And, directions consist of “easy to install” as written on the label. Lol

I always deploy 3 fenders now. 1 on the cleat by the captain's chair, one off the tower with a danik hook and one off the stern cleat.

So if I was adding quick release fender hangars, I'd put one near the tower base (forward swept X tower), and I'd put one forward of the stern cleat and higher.
