Rod Holders

@robert843 Thought this dolphin rod holders would fit on my frame (2015 242 Limited S) but it appears I was wrong, they are too small. Is the frame on your AR240 smaller in diameter?

Yes I believe the towers are different sizes but I'm surprised they do not fit mine required me to use one of the two different sized rubber spacers that came with it I would think for sure it would fit the limited tower with no spacer so that is disappointing.

I tried with the thinner of the two rubber spacers.........no go and then without any rubber spacers and still did not fit. After seeing them on your AR240 I thought for sure they would fit and was excited. Easy mod without drilling holes into the boat. The diameter of the frames must be different. Just like you pretty disappointed.

I'm pretty sure they are but not by much I think its only a 1/4 inch. You could go to home depot and for a few cents get some longer screws and then they should mount there maybe a small gap but I don't think that would be a big deal.

@robert843 That is why I love this forum. A simple solution that I didn't even think of. Cheaper than returning them. Buy the time I pay for shipping back to CA and a 20% restocking fee I might keep them and try that.

Let me know if that works! I will pick these up as well if that works

Nice, just ordered two!

@JTC1016 Did you try out the rod holders yet? Also where did you get them. Since the dolphins don't fit my frame I am looking at other alternatives.

I did and they performed just as expected. I'm very happy with them and look forward to the versatility. I got them from bass proshops. Here's a sample of the results Saturday.

Robert843 Great find! I have been looking everywhere for a set like those that weren't crazy expensive. Ive got 4 on the way! Thanks!!

So just an FYI: 17 242X tower is larger in diameter. Got 4 of the Dolphin holders. They look awesome but won't fit my tower. If anyone wants them let me know. 3 of the 4 are unopened in the box.

@surfthemtn sorry i didn't see your earlier post someone else had said the same a month or so ago. My recemendation if you want to keep them is go to Home Depot or Lowes and get longer screws there maybe a small gap but they should still hold tight

I got rod holders to fit the bimini frame on the side, not the main tower supports as those are much fatter. Amarine are the ones I bought....

You can see them in this thread:

I also installed one in each of the rear gunnels. I installed these there, and they work well. They go into the very back part of the wet storage area. I haven't yet taken photos of them!

Post pics when you can, looking to do the same. I've got two on the Bimini frame for storage when on the water but looking for two with easy access to sit them in while the lines are in the water.

This is the only shot I have right now that comes close to showing the stern rod holder! I literally have a thousand shots from Bimini and Shelbyville, but very few of the back of my boat!
