They are quite a ways back in there. Makes the overall length probably at least 30’

On the water today, a few hours late but we are moving. Had to go up the mast in a bosun chair to replace a broken anemometer before we left. First time in the chair…in 63 years.




Put the sails on and headed out down the Taunton River from Dighton, past the USS Massachusetts.

Under a few bridges.

We let out the genoa on a beam reach, backed off the throttles about half way and picked up a knot from 5 to 6 with the 135 genoa out, no main. We headed into 20 knot winds most of today. We will hit LI Sound in the morning on a beam reach wind and put the main up and shut the motors off.

We made it to an anchorage by 8pm, not too far from the Newport bridge.

Ummm...at 63 I would recommend hiring out anemometer repairs.

I wanted to go up and I weighed less than everyone else, seeing that the captain on the winch cranking me up weighed a few pounds more and is 66. Lol

Since it was raining again, we headed into town to pick up some replacement items and some other shopping. The wife found a great deal on a new vehicle, so I figured she deserved a treat for dealing with me. SOLD!

This was a rewarding little project. Took the kayak rack and repurposed it into a screen area for the trash and recycling bins.



The second picture has a scrap 4x4 added and a scrap 2X4 added. Also added a couple of new 1x4’s (the only new wood I had to buy - the privacy lattice is vinyl). Best part was I didn’t have to purchase much new lumber and had very little old wood to dispose of!

It ain't pretty, and it's not completed, but that will be finalized in fall when disassembly is done for winterizing everything. In the meantime, we will be tinkering and fiddling with the well supply to get it to be easier for setup and takedown each year. We now have running water to the house, and everyone rejoiced! 2 1/2 days of rain, some emergency assembly while the unstoppable water flow was going, and many curse words, but it's a far better setup than we had 3 weeks ago

Finally got the boat ready for the season. We generally avoid holiday weekends cause they're just shit shows. Especially the lake close to us since it's so small. We're heading out for a shakedown run after dinner tomorrow.

Went for a quick 30 mile bike ride and got was chased by a fast moving storm. Almost made it home, took shelter at a random porch 4 miles from home. The home owner came out and asked if I wanted to come in or need a chair.
