I'm sure many already realize this but the small box anchor fits nice and snug in the new 24 footers. Just had to cut a piece of rod to size and have the tines pointing toward the front of the boat. They wedge perfectly against the tray (not sure what to call this, the piece that was designed to keep the fluke anchor from moving). The rod lets it hang perfectly and it doesn't move at all.

Looks great! Might have to pick one up.

I did the same a few weeks back. I was to lazy to cut a rod though so I picked up an 18 inch peice of rebar at Home Depot for a $1.98 and some 1/2 ruber screw caps to put on the end it does fit great and love the fact its hanging not banging anything.

Who has the best price on one of these anchors?

Is it clunky pulling the anchor out or is it fairly easy to handle?

As far as price, it is so hard to tell with the various coupon codes and sites with no sales tax. Amazon always seems to have the cheapest price. I posted this early.......bought mine on jet.com. They had a 20% off coupon code that I found, plus another discount for being a first time buyer along with free shipping. I think I ended up paying $124 for the small size last year. Wherever you look, do a Google search for any coupon codes before purchasing.

Its not that bad. A heck of a lot easier that spending 20 minutes trying to get my fluke anchor to hold.

Yes! I saw this post but thought that I would have to still add padding or something. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it fit.

I ordered mine from them 2 years ago.

Frankly, it is clunky. I don't hang mine (yet), but I do collapse it and put it in there (with lots of padding). It is pretty much of a bear to lug out and un-collapse. But, it does work well on our mud bottom. Set and forget, basically. Makes it worth it for me.

@Devildog by adding the bar it is now significantly easier to pull out and reset. Prior to that it was a pain to get In and out. Obviously setup once out of the locker is the same but it still much easier to get and out of the locker.

I'm thinking this idea may be better than the custom wood box I made to put my blood anchor in...

Looks like I need to go to Lowes....

I'm going to try the bar as well. I tried doing what you did last year and it was a total pain......plus the padding covered up my drain hole and I about freaked out when I saw my anchor locker full of H2O.

Would you guys confirm that the bar should be cut to 18 inches.

I actually cut mine a bit longer. 18 1/4

18.5” bar.

Looking for suggestions for padding. Also want to apply edge padding to fiberglass at top exit point.

What bar did you useI want to change mine?
It’s a 1/2” solid copper ground rod. Not the best choice, however I had several bent ones laying around the shop that I could cut a straight 18” section from.

I’ll replace with steel if it ever bends.

I'm currently using rebar which rusts so I need to switch to steel but I'm not sure where I can find an 18.5" steel rod

I used an antifatigue mat found at Lowes/Home Depot and cut that to fit the locker. It is rubber about 1/2" thick or so...
