The Ultimate Bow Stop roller 4 inch consist of three parts two outer RP-434 and a center roller RP-444.

Besides having to either open the trailer to accept the larger center roller or cutting the center roller down, I do not care for the fit against the hull.

The OEM roller (as crappy as it is) had a groove in it and the correct angles so that both sides of the hull met up with the center roller and the outer rollers, leaving the center of the Hull V in the groove and with little or no contact with the roller. Thus spreading out the weight.

Not so with the Stoltz Ultimate Bow Stop Roller. All the weight is directly in the center of the center roller and air space can be seen on the sides as seen here:

So has anyone found a roller set with a profile that more closely resembles the OEM one? I am wondering if using a Stoltz RP-414 coupled with the two outer RP-434 rollers would do the trick?

I've been left with the impression that the outer "wings" are only there to guide it into the middle. . . . . Should not be too concerned that it's resting on the only the middle.

I agree with @0627Devildog the roller isn't there to take weight...the bunks do that. The roller is just part of the bow stop and is to position the boat at the correct spot on the trailer and to stop the boat from running up onto the winch.

@Summers420us Looks like you have a BowShield installed, too, should help spread the pressure.
After I installed a BowShield in my 190, I no longer felt there was a need for a softer bow stop roller, so I left the OEM and had no problems. You may have the best of both worlds?

@swatski - The pic with the BowShield is not my boat... Unfortunately, the one with the marks and OEM roller is... :(

Here is another possible center roller. 3.5 inch seems a bit shy of the width of OEM roller though....

FIXED!!! Using the new RP-355 (designed for Shoreland'r Trailers) and the two outer RP-434 rollers, I managed to get a fit that I like. There was no modification necessary to the rollers or the trailer. Fits perfect.
On a side note, ordering the three separately and picking up my onw 1/2 x 6 inch bolt and washers was cheaper than the Ultimate Bow Stop Roller kit. :winkingthumbsup"

Well, you can simply order the RP-355, West Marine charged me $10 and had it here in a week.

Just to specify, you have the RP-355 center and RP-434 side rollers?

Edit: do you have a link? I couldn't find the 355 on west marine, looks like amazon has them though

Damn I could not find the 355 when I was searching for it. Ordered the Ultimate and I'm just going to cut it down rather than hassle with returning it and ordering a new roller and bells.

Good to know it fits good though!

I'm not sure what's going on with the picture of the Stoltz Ultimate and that bow protector on the first page. I installed my Stoltz Ultimate today that I cut down to the same width as the stock roller and it fits the same. Bow sits on there nicely.

It could be my eyes, but when I look at your pictures you have air space where I have circled. If that is the case, it is an example of was what I did not like about the fit. I wanted more than just the sharp edge of the V to make contact. Plus I did not want to alter anything. Either way, if you got it to work to your satisfaction then awesome!

I had the same small gap with the stock roller. You could turn them by hand with the boat loaded on the trailer. The bunks are what take the weight of the boat. You just want your bow resting nice on the roller so it doesn't bounce going down the road. The bells or wings of the roller are just for guiding the boat to align on the center roller. They aren't really there to take weight or support the boat.

Just to report back after a few weeks of usage, I am very happy with my install. NO MORE MARKS on the hull! There are small ghost tracks from the Stoltz but they wipe off easily.
