Thanks!

What’s that old saying about a fool and his money parting ways?

Interesting thoughts about cam overlap.

Every 02 sensor installation I’ve ever seen has the sensor orientated almost vertically.

At the moment the plan on the TR-1 engines is to only use the 02 sensor on one exhaust, mounted vertically ahead of / upstream of where the water dumps into the exhaust, for tuning purposes, pull the sensor and cap the hole, then run the engine in an open loop configuration which is what the guy in the video mentions, this is how our engines run, not sure if the California versions of our boats use an 02 sensor in addition to catalytic converters. Of the outboard manufacturers, and to the best of my knowledge only Honda and Suzuki run their engines with 02 sensors in a closed loop system, so those two companies have got it figured out, and those two companies engines are the most fuel efficient.

So, talked to my friend and he told me what will kill 02 sensors very fast is any metals like lead or sulphur.

He suggested the reason these 02 sensors were failing had to with the combustion process, namely did they not get all of the marine diesel out of the tanks as marine diesel is full sulphur old school diesel fuel.
