2008 AR210. Anyone know why this vent hole is here? Thinking about installing a charging port for my trickle charger in it's place.

Thanks in advance!

I would say based on this Drawing it is part of your ventilation system.

I have one just like it although not near my speaker but on my 2019 AR 195. It is near the battery which is under the port flip up seat. I just figured it was for battery ventilation so that gases wouldn't get trapped.

I think it’s a vent for the batteries as well. I replaced mine with a 12v port years ago. It works fine.

Yup, probably for venting the batteries. I'd leave it alone and install your charge port next to it. Easy to do!

If that vent is for venting Hydrogen gas from the battery(s), I would make sure any electrical components/connections I added in that area were intrinsically safe. I know it is not a sealed compartment, but Yamaha put a vent there for a reason.

You guys are making me second guess my “12v port upgrade”. I may dig up the vent cap and reinstall it. It’s removal hasn’t caused any problems that I know of in the last 5 years or so but why chance it right. I will check to see if my batteries are sealed before I do anything else.

Looked at it today
