After seeing all these issues with debris in the hull/engine compartment and trailers with loose fenders/nuts/bolts, I am wondering what the hell the dealership is doing for their outrageous make ready fees!!!!!

In their defense, anyone who spends time of this forum basically knows more about potential issues than any dealer (that I know of) :cool:.
With this particular issue, the bilge compartment under the swim deck is VERY crowded in 2016s (!), not easy to spot things, need a good flash light to see down to the bottom of the keel, etc. Not saying I'm happy, but I spent enough time in the bilge of my previous 190 to be on the outlook for certain things.

Now, that blocked off hose from the swim platform storage deck drain - that's different, and that pisses me off.

I will post pictures when I get to it, I don't think it will be today.

The St. Charles Boat and Motor - the nicest people to do business with. They are fantastic.

They are so good, I am seriously considering letting them do the 10hr service when it comes due!

Awesome !! I'm jealous already. I really wish I got that color scheme now. The blue is pretty but lots of work to maintain. Fenders dull the finish really quickly. The tow cover beats up the side of the boat on long hauls especially if its wet out - road grit gets between the cover and hull and abrades away. I have lots of wet sanding and polishing to do. For a long tow think about some blue tape under the tow cover perhaps. For short tows I leave the cover off. It's just too much work.

I don't really have any qualms with the jack but I wish it was on the drivers side.

Yep, my bilge was full of crud too. The plug from the bilge plug hole was in my bilge (hard to get) and lots of metal shavings. Made it hard to get the water out and the plug back in for a while. Some of those metal shavings got tightly into the threads of the bilge plug hole. I was just starting to get over that nonsense till you brought it up. Ha!

I'd at least balance the tires or go for radials before your fenders shake apart like many of ours.

Reminder: you may already know but your first best mod should be the bow stop roller. The original put deep scratches in my boat in just a couple launches.

@swatski, I think that the clean-out tray drain hose is supposed to zigzag and have a bend in it so that it is harder for water to splash up into the clean-out tray through the drain hose from outside the boat. Mine has a bend in it, but it still drains... and a bit of water will still get forced back up it especially when I'm in reverse. If I were you, I would not straighten it. If I were you, I would not touch it unless it is completely pinched off.

@captras, I'm not a dealer, but I assume that the dealers simply do what Yamaha tells them to do. I assume that much of the debris vibrates its way to the bilge drain during shipping, and as such, it wouldn't be feasible for it to be cleaned-out at the factory, so the dealerships would be the right place to remove it. Yamaha just needs to add this to their prep list, if it's not already on it. On another note, if it's left there for the new owner to find, it's not such a bad thing because it will likely contain the missing parts that are required for some of the initial repairs. :mad:

Very good point Mr Moose! I did not realize that.
So, if that hose is kinked by design..., there is a word I would use to describe this design... But, I'm afraid it is not a PC word *.
I will post a pic, mine is COMPELTELY pinched off/kinked, and does not drain at all.

Replace it with a back flow valve?

You could always straighten it and then install an in-line check valve

I will be hitting the tire shop to balance the tires tomorrow. This trailer just scares me.

I was on the fence about the roller, but I think I will swap it. I usually have the BowShield, but not sure I want to mess with that.
That said, as shitty as these OEM rollers are, I think the trick is to pull the bow up all the way until the roller comes under the main chine. It does feel like you are going to rip the bow eye off, and the hook is basically hitting the winch, but I think that is the only way to keep the OEM roller from harming the gelcoat.

I think the only way to keep the OEM roller from harming the gelcoat is to throw it away. ;)

I haven't tried the masking tape trick but I know I have to come up with something before next time. I'm too lazy to polish out the scratches - I have it at a detail shop now and they estimated about $300 Argh.

@swatski St Charles Boat and Motor is where I was this weekend and will be taking my current boat tomorrow to get checked out. I'm glad to validate that they are decent folks. They seem very nice and honest from the few hours that I have spent with them. Hopefully everything goes well and I can be at Rend next weekend with a new boat.

Love the graphic package on your boat.
 
Dealer prep step one on these boats should be:

  • Crank up the bow, pull the stern plug and stick a hose in the engine compartment!
I couldn't get the plug in my boat there were so many metal shavings in the hole...

Yep. I used a shop vac to get most of it out, but she is still shedding shavings... Drives me nuts!

Make sure to catch all of the useable parts, cuz you'll need them for your initial warranty repairs.

I really like these guys, they are solid. Jerry, one of the owners, is there all the time. I worked with Terry McCormick this time, he is a great salesman, used to own a dealership himself. They will treat you well.

Oh, one more thing. They do a decent job with boat prep, but at the end of the day they are just dealers. I would highly recommend waxing the hull, particularly the bottom, before you put it in the water. I like using one of these synthetic cleaner waxes for that. Used to use Meguire's Flagship, but Klasse is my new favorite.
Anyway - you will be surprised how dirty and thirsty these bottoms are, I was.
