what things have you sucked up and found in your clean out

I see your point and it's very valid.

If you boat in an area that's loaded with grass or kelp you get used to the feeling, that specific vibration you feel when you suck that stuff up. You probably know what I mean.

Last time out I was cruising along at a pretty good clip...(OK I was WOT with the music blasting! and all of a sudden - WHAM - the port pump sucked in a small log!
I immediately shut 'er down

Yes sir I know exactly the vibration you are talking about. What is amazing is how small of a piece of debris that can knock it out of whack . . . . .. I am not joking one time I was flying along probably 40 mph and felt that vibration . .. . knew it was something in the impeller . . .. stopped and pulled the plug and what I found was one of those plastic caps that come on a milk jug . . .. you know, the ones that have that plastic that you "peel" around in a circle to remove the cap and the part you peel sometime stays on the cap? Well the part you peel was wrapped around the shaft sorta keeping it there and the rest of the cap was I guess banging around the faces of the impellers disrupting everything. I have also had lilly pad stems muck it up, just one or two of them! Doesn't seem possible but it does!

Been a while since this thread was seen....I'm sure we've got a lot more strange things being sucked up!?

- Fish noticed some cavitation then looked in to pull out the usual eel grass while on the trailer but it was a fish
- Nylon strap 3/4 wide by 2'' length It wedged between the impeller and wear ring and spun with the impeller picked up after hitting reverse by the boat ramp. reverse knocks all types of junk of the bay floor
- Front bow line it slipped into the water pulling up to the dock motor stalled out from low idle it was fairly tight
- Ski rope limped to a nearby boat ramp had a friend pick up my truck and trailer to meet me at the ramp
- Fishing line
- small branch wedged in causing cavitation and engine temp light lit up. Had to pull the pump to get it out
- other branches was able to pull out
- eel grass anytime I'm in the great south bay so much that you have to stop and pull it out from the clean out ports
- Mill foil in Vermont lakes

25 seasons on jet boats probably things I forgot. Enjoy the 2024 season!!!
