I haven’t crawled over one of these boats yet but I believe the deck drains similar to Yamaha.

Here’s a pic of the deck drains and high flow gates...

On both sides of the hull towards to stern you can see two large drain fittings, two per side, just above the water line. I think those connect to each deck drain. I’m not certain though but that seems like that is how they do it.

If those are scupper outlets, it would make a lot of sense and would be a major step forward. The 245/255 bowrider I considered at some point did not have that, instead had drains into the bilge, with the bilge pump tasked with removing all water.

It seemed crazy as Scarab inherited with SeaDoo line and we all know that little SeaDoos could do the "sub" move, requiring self bailing deck. I was very surprised that the Scarabs I looked at had no scupper...

If the new 255 Open remedies that - kudos! and apologies for spreading misinformation. Although I would still like a confirmation it is the real deal, maybe someone will post the details and pics from a boat show?

Thats crazy.... no transmissions or outdrives. What is making it so high.
Would never spend more than double of what i paid for my AR240 on any jetboat

That's every option available. I just wanted to check for the hell of it.

Good Afternoon Jetboaters,
This is my first post since I joined the forum a couple of months ago.
Today, my 2019 scarab 255 open id (twin 250's) arrived to Kuwait . I will be posting some pics next week and videos (if permitted) here.
I am looking forward to see how it will perform.
For now, be safe and enjoy boating.

:)

Good Afternoon Jetboaters,
I was suppose to get my boat on the water this week but unfortunately the registration department (having the boat inspected and registered) had to postpone it until Sunday. At least I took some photos but will take more once its back in my house. I used to own a Sea-Doo Speedster (2008) with twin 215's. I had maintained the boat for 5 years and NEVER had an issue. I don't know what is the difference between the Rotax 4-tec engines 2012 vs 2019. Is the engine the same ? I can't find an answer on the web. Anyhow, in Kuwait, we use either 91 / 95/ or 98 octane and none have ethanol. I am here to learn from previous jetboaters and get an insight of what to expect from these engines. I am learning from this forum and thank you for educating me. By the way, the owner manual doesn't have the exhaust flushout info which confused me :bookworm:

*** UPDATE:

The flush-out is the same as the original flushing tube on the a sea-doo but instead its much easier to have them on the top.

Good afternoon from KUWAIT,
On my first trial , not even going more than 3 mph. What happened:
Put the boat in reverse so I can get it of the trailer while it was in the water, then I put it forward , and right away the message appeared. I couldn’t reverse ; instead glided it back to the trailer. :(
So I searched the web for this CODE and found it.

http://forum.chaparralboats.com/index.php?/topic/35143-vortex-2017-203-e-reverse-error-code/
https://jetboaters.net/threads/error-reverse-195-scarab.11384/
https://jetboaters.net/threads/reverse-module-failure-low-battery.14106/

UPDATE:

Technicians came in today to check the problem with their laptop and brp canbus and the issue was related to the reverse module which will be replaced tomorrow. This isn't a good start for SCARAB since the boat has ZERO HOURS! :watching:

Today i took it for a sea-trial. I have to say that its SOLID and rides like a CHAMP. Didn't have a problem with waves which were 3-4 ft. The only concern i had was that when i idled after 10 minutes, the bilge pumped water from the port side (about 1/4 gallon of seawater). I believe there is a loose hose somewhere and will identify it this week. Anyway, i am happy with how it performed

UPDATE:
On the starboard side, there are two outlets (for scuppers and storage) and on the port side there are 4 outlets (two scuppers, one for the live-well, and the bilge pump) :)

At 9:42 they mention lateral thrust control . Sounds like a direct grab from #jetboatpilot . It looks like the boat lands fairly hard when cutting through the wake you can see the passengers heads jerk.

Hmmm.... Yes!
Come to think of it just like they grabbed "jet boat", and... "pilot", right there in their videos. Bastards, lol.

I would consider that to be a major improvement. Do you know if it transfers to all 255/215 hulls, or is it just the Open?

When i was cruising yesterday along the coast, I saw a 60ft yacht in front of me so I wanted to see how it will ride the wave. Honestly, it depends on how you ride the wave. I see videos where they think a jet-boat is a jet-ski . The scarab performed very well and I am pleased with how smooth it took the wave. I'll try to create an account on youtube and send the link so all of you could see future videos because i was using my GOPRO 5 to record but i'll take videos from my iPhone and upload it to the account.

@MD23679 Thanks for all the updates. I really like the 255 Open ID concept (24ft center console jet) but not much information out there about it other than what I would consider advertisement/paid "reviews" via boattest or boating magazine so nice to hear the good and the bad from actual owners. This size center console boat was what I was originally looking when I bought my boat in 2014, but cringed every time my kids jumped out of the back of someone else's boat with an outboard. As soon as boat would stop, they would jump. :nailbiting: The jet boat solved that concern, but in 2014 (that sounds so long ago) there weren't any Center Console jet boats.

I'm hoping you have good luck with your Scarab and all the crazy things I see about the Scarab models are fixed with your boat....so I can get one just like in the future. That light blue looks really good and has a nice classical look that will still look good years from now. Congrats!

Thank you @mrmeaniemeateaterman
Since Dec 2017, I was watching the boat on youtube and was like "hmmmm...interesting center console" and kept searching about it and deciding whether its what I wanted. I wish there were people like Jetboatpilot on youtube for the scarab/rotax users. Anyway, I am just concerned about the engines because during the summer (June-August), the climate in Kuwait is HOT (between 115F-120F).

Very annoying when you go +30mph . It sounds like the thing is going to get torn apart. I have to tighten it or do something about it.
You talking about that fabric piece on back of the hard top?
Why is that there? Tow sports or something? Sun for driver?
