After being a longtime GM truck owner I switched over to Dodge and have not looked back. I ordered my Ram with 3.92 gears and it tows like a dream.
Here’s a pic of pulling the boat out of winter storage in May and also a more recent pic.

Honestly it does really well, tows without any drama, accelerates and pulls it up hills without an issue. Boat falls well within the 7700# tow capacity too tho. I love this thing. It's a sports car (for a big SUV anyway) / practical car / tow rig all in one that manages to pull off decent gas mileage (again, for an SUV, haha). I'm sure all the same reasons you went with the X5

My wife’s version is a 2019 Chevy Traverse Redline. My GMC Canyon didn’t fit enough people because my two kids always want to bring friends. The 3rd row in the Traverse solved that problem. Now the boat holds all of our luggage on our trips.

And it matches perfectly!

We used to tow with a Q7 TDI, still miss it when on the highway some days - for its phenomenal stability, low to the ground w/ magic traction control.

Used to use a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited but it sucked up too much gas. Now yanking it around with a Ram 2500 Mega Cab Limited with a Cummins engine. Barely know its back there now.

So you went from a $50k truck to a $70k truck to save a few mpg? That makes sense. But then again when does 1k lb/ft of torque NOT make sense???

Some people here weren't comfortable with this set up, but it hauls perfectly! I moved the winch furthest back and it's at 9% tongue weight (265lb). I found boat trailer manufacturers recommend 6-12% or something like that. Tongue weight is within specifications.

Comfortable...? Even without the extra ski (?!!!) using a 2ft (?) hitch extender there is hardly a rule of towing this setup is not violating. But hey, take your chances.

To be completely honest... I have done worse, probably few times in my past...
You would never see me post pics of it on the internet though, lol.

Bet you could do something similar to the rear of the boat trailer and remove the weight/that extension setup.

Did you weight the boat to get that 9%? 265lb @ 9% means the boat/trailer weigh 2,944 lbs. I would expect a full loaded AR192 on trailer to weight more than that.

Tmrw I get the chance to see just how well the Ram does heading to Torch Lake!!! I’ve only towed with the Ram near the house. But my wife says it kicks butt towing up I75. Pic taken on our way to Higgins Lake last week.

Did you weight the boat to get that 9%? 265lb @ 9% means the boat/trailer weigh 2,944 lbs. I would expect a full loaded AR192 on trailer to weight more than that.

I never weighed it, but I found multiple reports that the AR192 is around 3000lbs fully loaded on a trailer.
