Hilarious......someone posted the video copy of the 255XD on YouTube.......

That pricing is really disappointing but believable.....i just hope the AR250 is really $61k, that’s only a $3k increase over the 240 and that is true model i have my sights on.......

Actually I foresee some heavy discounts next fall if this pricing is accurate for the 255/252......i just don’t see such a hot market next summer and there are a LOT of nicer boats in that range.....
Hey man, don't be mocking my phone video - at least it's something lol

The only bit of rumor I'm spouting that I care about is $61k. It's the last thing he spilled and it felt a touch afterthoughty as I rolled him thru my "inquiries"
If high 60s I'm buying a $30k regal 2520. Son2 rolled to LA with his brother a few days ago and he may not return. If that's the case surfing becomes a non issue.

So basically the AR250 OTD could be around 67-68k. That sucks, for me.
You were saying something about filling a gap in a thread? There you go.

And keeping it at or under $100K on top and close to $60K on the bottom puts them up against the entry surf boats. It won't surf as well, but it will be more comfortable overall.

And I'm comparing to the MasterCraft NXT line. A friend rolls out on our lake this past weekend with a 2021 MasterCraft NXT24. This is the biggest of their entry level NXT line. $100K. The NXT20 is their "$50K all day" boat. Which never sells for $50K, as it needs a trailer to start with. But you get the idea. I can have a stripped down MC, or a Yamaha that can surf somewhat. An interesting comparison as I like the layout of the 255 over the NXT24 even though it surfs better.

The NXT24 comes surf ready for 93K and you have to remember you can get a discount because of the mark up in other boat lines. I would pick the NXT24 all day, I don't want all of the electronic BS in a boat. Since Yamaha prices the 242X at 79K there is no way they keep this thing under 95K and there aren't very many people going to consider this when looking for a boat to surf on.

Its all about versatility. The NXT 24 has a TOP speed of 37mph.....its like a tractor (throw more bodies and stuff, that will drop to 34mph). For some people that is a deal breaker. I ran into a guy on FB who was complaining about the top speed of the 242X at 50 and said for that price I'd buy a Mastercraft. He didn't believe me when I told him he'd die laughing when he learned the top speed of many wake boats.

If you are looking for a wake tractor...there are lots out there. Yamaha's are far from perfect, but they are pretty well rounded boats that you can surf behind, albeit with more effort. What ever it is they come out with tomorrow (as I can't talk about that), but they'll still be effectively similar all round performers, NOT specialty craft.

Julian, you’re not wrong. And for us, not towing a tank around the country is a huge plus. Also, my 2 SHO waverunners (2010) have been absolutely bulletproof. I’m pretty much all in at low 60s.

Somone is not happy with me! Not long until YouTube pulls it I’m sure. Official reveal will be today so it is what it is.

Youtube won't pull it. They allow reposting of content. Boating magazine is the one that published it publicly and not by accident. That will be their claim to Yamaha, as it's a violation of their NDA.

That being said, this happens all the time in the powersports world. Look at the buzz it created the day before reveal. It was planned, they aren't pissed. They are playing pissed to keep Yamaha at bay.

Good on you! 4400 views as of this morning! WOO WOO

Exactly. When I sat our 242 next to the NXT, I was first impressed, and then I saw how uncomfortable everyone was in that boat. If you want a purpose built wake boat for under $100k, there it is. But if you want a swiss army knife that can surf, I will take my old 242.

After spending thousands trying to get my Yamaha to surf, I come to the realization that not everyone in our group wants to surf, or at least is to impatient to do the setup for one person at a time. So I look at it this way, I saved myself 10's of thousands by not buying the MasterCraft. It's all in what you plan to do with the boat.

In my world, a boat that is a jack of all trades is what we want and need. It doesn't need to do one thing amazingly well, but rather many things pretty good. Fishing (In-Shore, Off-Shore), Smaller Lakes, Great Lakes and Ocean, Plenty of Room and Storage, room for up to 10, can do watersports (we tube, ski, Zup, Kneeboard and Wakeboard) but with the ability to add on to be able to try surfing some day, is safe, easy to maintain, I can tow it, Has a top speed minimum in the 40's, is reasonably priced. Can handle conditions if something expected comes up on the water to get back in to safety and a 1-3' chop will not be deterrent. Also that it is economical to drive.

I basically get that in the boat we bought this year AR210, but the 25' sounds like bit more space, a better way to have a head and the ability to handle bigger water a bit better. So for us, to upgrade it will come down to price/cost vs needs and wants. We talked last night and it would most likely, at this point, either be a 2021 AR250 or a gently used AR240. Will see how everything shakes out and what the boats look like when they are revealed as well as reviewed and tested.

I'm really interested to see what the price jump is. I had a deposit on a AR240 and then starting seeing the rumors of it changing to a 25' We were already at our max budget and comfort level with size, plus I figured that the 25 would have a decent price jump (we will see). I ended up switching my order to a 212s a month ago and it arrived yesterday. We are extremely happy with the decision! Hopefully the new line up has models that suite everyone's taste

212s is a damn nice boat. I saw and walked through a 2021 a week ago. Although for my own well being I wasn't going to bring up the whole "J" seating vs chair again, since the Admiral really likes the "J" seating and I would rather it be a chair.
