I would be livid if they did that to my boat. I would make them fix it the way the guys on this forum are suggesting for free then give you a free service or 2 for oil changes and ask them what in the heck they were thinking doing this.

Shit, I wouldn't trust those asswipes with an oil change either, or any other type of work. I agree though, he should definitely be compensated in some way.

Wicked I'm sorry you have such bad experiences. I'm sure seeing all this other stuff gets you all revved back up.
yeah it does because i can only imagine how other people feel. I love my boat, dont get me wrong. Its just the fact that i bought new so i wouldnt have any issues for the 1st few years lol. Top that off that you have a dealership that are nice people but the service dept isnt thorough and they make more issues every time Ive brought back to fix the original screw ups and QC problem. Ya kinda feel helpless, hi heres your boat for 95k, you are on your own.

I just don't understand why Yamaha didn't just put the drain hole in the bottom of the locker (where his puddle of water is/was) allowing it follow the inside of the keel and off to the bilge and transom drain.
That's the way my 190 is. No idea why an overboard drain was deemed necessary for the bigger boats.

OP - message me for Yamaha contact info.

also what is the dealers name? I say we all leave a bad review until decide to make this right. I don’t want what that looks like but at a minimum it’s removing the clamshell and correctly filling and painting the holes.

If nothing else, I would file in small claims court for maximum amount. Easy win, the judge will laugh the dealer out of the court room.

The smart thing to do would be to run a hose down and drain it into the bilge and just glass the hole up and be done with it, polish it and you would never know it was there. Everything else goes back there anyhow.
I'm not sure that would be a good idea. If you have a bow full of people that anchor locker fills with water when you are driving slow. That would fill the bilge quickly (which is why people have also sealed the anchor locker itself better)

@adrianp89 Perhaps. But lets see if the dealer makes it right. It could of been just some stupidity on the service department or a staff member.

You are absolutely correct. Was just thinking outside the box. With your line of reasoning it makes sense that they would only drain it out the front. Bilge could be running all the time or worse with a bilge that isn't working if it was draining back into it.

All things considered, it's not as bad as the guy with the 275 and blown engine that @Yamaha can't fix and won't warranty.

I put a stainless steel through hull on mine. The factory drain wasn’t flush against the hull, and was drilled at the wrong angle for the new one to seat properly. I slightly egg shaped just the inside edge of the hole inside the anchor locker, and it fit flush against the outside without changing the diameter at all. View attachment 156503

Why wont they warranty it?
There’s a long thread...The drive shaft broke... @Yamaha corporate wanted to inspect the boat. Owner didn’t want to wait and had his authorized @Yamaha dealer fix it out of pocket. Next outing the engine blew up and @Yamaha refused to cover it under warranty since he didn’t wait for the inspection. Last update I saw was his dealer was waiting for parts for what is expected to be a $20k repair bill.

@ChrisM Never came back to tell us what happened or the resolution. Unless I missed it somewhere in a thread.

I got the boat back. Complete new engine. 23K all in. Yamaha didn’t cover. Repair took over 6 months. They said I injested something. All the mechanics who looked at it (and the photos) do not indicate that. And incidentally I called the biggest jet Boat dealer / repair during the process and they told me same thing happened to another 275 … meaning mystery drive shaft snap and engine needing replacement (although in that case Yahama covered it). Happy to have boat back but bad experience. If I had it to do over again at the first repair I would have said yes to the Yamaha investigators. I think that is where I went wrong. In the good news department I figured out how to BBQ on the boat and that is awesome!

I have the same issue.. My boat is two weeks old. I have a misaligned anchor locker plastic drain fitting that doesn't reach all the way into the anchor locker and I believe is allowing water between the hulls and then down into my engine bilge. I bought the SS fitting and then started thinking about why I need this hole in my anchor locker if the water drains to the bilge anyhow. I temporarily filled it with silicone to leak test the bilge activity.

The only thing I can think of is that a lot of sand/mud/dirt will be in that locker from the anchor and it might not be good for the life of the bilge pump.
