not thrilled with dealer fix to the anchor locker issue

Maybe the guy worked at Scarab. Here’s a pic of the front of a fairly new Scarab jet boat with that same clam shell covering the anchor locker drain I’m guessing.

Fair but the clam shell on the Yamaha is pointing straight down.

That won't fix the problem, it may actually make it worse. Will depend on the flow, but I suspect that will actually drive MORE water into the drain! I've learned that when you ask a dealer to do something.....you have to be VERY specific about what you want done and to what level of quality.

Its like a ramp inviting the water into the anchor locker.

I should have used my sarcasm font when I put that up about the scarab boat. The fix on the Yamaha was dumb, ugly and didn’t fix the issue. I just thought it was funny that Scarab uses that on their boats

Well at least the dealer didn’t seal the anchor locker shut with 5200, fill the drain hole with 5200 and throw the anchor in the ski locker. So that’s good

It is when I see things like this, it reinforces for me that I won't let a dealer touch my boat if I can do the work myself or if it is going to cost a lot of money. I am very disappointed in that dealer after seeing this, unfortunately.

IF they are going to do something like this, what do you thing the quality is for oil changes or other things....... It is very sad. What I have realized it that Boat Dealer are no where near what Car Dealers do. I think that is the disconnect in my mind. You would thing that you take your boat to a dealer and you would get the same type of quality and service you would get from a car dealer. Hell my boat costs more than my cars. I have never had an issue really from my Ford Dealers in quality of service, warranty or otherwise. Could you see me getting my truck back after I complained that there was water dripping in with a non standard fix?

I dunno, pretty bummed and upset that they did that to you. They need to make this right.

I put a stainless steel through hull on mine. The factory drain wasn’t flush against the hull, and was drilled at the wrong angle for the new one to seat properly. I slightly egg shaped just the inside edge of the hole inside the anchor locker, and it fit flush against the outside without changing the diameter at all.

SMH..Looks like they put a flag holder on your boat. That’s ugly AF. You can patch those holes easily and just install a stainless steel thru hull fitting as seen on this forum, and it looks classy. Get that POS off your new boat.

That certainly looks a lot better than the clamshell thing that was shoddily installed on the OP’s boat but, in my humble opinion, a drain hole should never have been designed into the almost the very front of the bow. Somebody at Yamaha got lazy.

The smart thing to do would be to run a hose down and drain it into the bilge and just glass the hole up and be done with it, polish it and you would never know it was there. Everything else goes back there anyhow.

im at a loss for words seeing this. I think these dealers are glorified hubs for delivery of yamahas merchandise. Their service depts are a joke, all they are really good at is winterizing waverunners.

Make this CRYSTAL clear when you talk to them again - THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Your anchor locker drain is in the EXACT condition of mine, short fitting, looks like it was drilled with a .45cal pistol, is allowing fiberglass damage, etc.

I have no idea if you have any other Yamaha dealer in your area, but that place would never touch my boat again - I cannot emphasize enough, "YOU DRILLED HOLES IN MY BOAT AND APPLIED SOMETHING THAT'S NOT A FIX, WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION"

That’s the drum I'd keep beating during the conversation.

This is all contingent on what your original conversation was - none of us know how YOU dealt with them, what YOU said, and what they told you when you dropped off your boat.
